The Dew Tour Beach Championships return June 20-23, bringing a weekend of action sport competition and celebration to Ocean City, Maryland. Bucky Lasek, PLG, Bob Burnquist, Brett Banasiewicz, and the rest of the extreme athletes may be the main attraction, but they are not the only entertainment superstars embarking on Ocean City this weekend. In addition to athletes who defy Mother Nature and common sense, this year’s tour will feature free concerts and the debut of ‘Dew Tour Recognize’, which celebrates the cultural and lifestyle aspects of action sports, making the Beach Championships a happening social scene as much it is an athletic event.
What better way to wrap up an awesome day of action sports at the Dew Tour than with concerts by national recording acts…for FREE? Columbia Records trio Krewella will bring their self-produced blend of electro, punk, and dubstep melodies and basslines to the inlet stage on Friday June 21. Opening for them are emerging rockers New Politics. This 3-piece band broke onto the pop-culture scene with their smash single ‘Harlem’ and their unique style of punk, pop, dance, and rock is as diverse and entertaining as the the Dew Tour athletes themselves.
After DJ Stimulus gets the crowd going during the Skateboard Battle at the Beach Street Session on Saturday June 22, acclaimed underground rapper and world renowned lyricist Talib Kweli will headline the main stage. Known for his fierce beats and socially aware rhymes, Kweli’s performance of top hits and new tracks will match the intensity level of the athletes competing for the podium.
Skating, surfing, biking, and music won’t be the only art forms on display at this year’s Dew Tour. The 3rd Annual Beach Championships will be the first to include ‘Dew Tour Recognize’. This series of events will pay homage to the lesser known world of art, photography, and film that action sport culture encompasses. ‘Dew Tour Recognize’ will take place in Berlin and be free to the public. The event will culminate on Saturday June 22 with an art show dedicated to progressive and transcendent artwork by Steve Caballero, Neil Blender, Christian Hosoi, Chris Markovich and Matt Dove and other industry legends and local artists.
All Dew Tour events can be viewed for free, but premium passes are still available for those wishing for a closer look at the action.
