Live music will fill the streets of Berlin this weekend! You’ll hear some bluegrass, some fast pickin’, and lots of fiddling’ as you relax in your lawn chair and enjoy the 18th Annual Berlin Fiddler’s Convention in Berlin, MD.
The annual bluegrass competition is one of Berlin’s largest, and favorite, events. The event will run Friday, September 24th from 7 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, September 25th, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is predicted that thousands of people will be entering the historic town to participate and observe the event and all of it’s traditions.
Kicking off the fun on Friday will be Lost Time, who won last years best band category at the festival. Summertown Road will take the stage afterwards. On Saturday, Summertown Road will perform again for an anxious crowd. Then, let the competition begin! Musicians from the entire eastern coast of the U.S. will compete in several categories for more than $3,000 in cash prizes. Many musicians have already pre-registered to compete while others plan to sign up after 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
What’s one of the best things to do when you’re surrounded by great music? Dance! Put on your dancing shoes and wiggle to some of the best bluegrass music you’ll ever here. Not into dancing? Don’t worry, there are plenty of other options. Free hay rides will be picking up riders and taking them for a drive around town. The shops of downtown Berlin will be open. Craft vendors will line Main Street and food stands will be mixed in with the vendors.
Some seating will be provided. It is encouraged that you bring your own lawn chair and claim a spot so you can enjoy your show. Get to Berlin early and stay late! Berlin is located only 6 miles west of Ocean City. We will see you for the 18th Annual Berlin Fiddler’s Convention this weekend!
