Ayers Creek Adventures: Late August is Perfect for Paddling on the Creek!

If you are in Ocean City this week, you may notice a couple of changes as you drive down Coastal Highway. The speed limit, normally 40 mph through North Ocean City, has been reduced to 30 mph, and Downtown, the speed limit has also been reduced. This is due to the expected, unauthorized H2Oi Pop-Up Rally.  It is reasonable to expect heavier than usual traffic, noise and strict enforcement of vehicle laws during the week and weekend.

It seems as though visitors to the Ocean City area can’t get enough of Ayers Creek! Ayers Creek is a beautiful, small tributary that runs straight to the Atlantic Ocean. The heat, sunshine, and coastal bugs have not scared off any of the visitors to Ayers Creek Adventures this summer.

Ayers Creek Adventures is a local, family owned and operated business situated on the creek banks in Berlin, MD. Ayers Creek Adventures allows those interested to experience the vast array of wildlife including bald eagles, herons, egrets, osprey, ducks, otters, and white tail deer as you paddle these peaceful waters in a canoe, kayak, or on a stand-up paddle board. The tours offered by Ayers Creek Adventures have become one of our favorite ways to experience the coastal bays watershed. Our local watershed exhibits the highest diversity of habitats and living creatures in Maryland.

In August, the wildlife, especially the eagles and egrets seem to appear as soon as the paddlers approach. During the late summer the marsh mallow is in full bloom. Look for butterflies and hummingbirds as they enjoy the vast array of wildflowers and marsh grasses along the creek.

If you’re interested in checking out Ayers Creek, try to get paddling in August. Go to the creek on a Thrifty Thursday and enjoy half-price rentals or 20% off tours in August. Join the Ayers Creek Adventures staff on Saturday August 21st, Sunday August 22nd, Monday August 23rd, or Tuesday August 24th for their Full Moon Paddles. During this special lunar paddle, participants will enjoy a camp fire, wine from Fenwick Wine Cellars, hors d’ouves from The Shark on the Harbor, and s’mores after their night-time paddle on the creek.

If you’re looking for something to do on the water, Ayers Creek is a fantastic option! Visit Ayers Creek Adventures in Berlin and have a great time!
