Ocean City, Maryland may be the premier vacation resort on the East Coast during the summer, but each winter it transforms into an award-winning holiday wonderland. The Annual Winterfest of Lights returns November 20- January 4, as over 1,000,000 Christmas bulbs light up the town. The hundreds of animated displays at Northside Park on 125th Street are the main attraction, but businesses and residents all over town join the fun with mesmerizing lights of their own. The Winterfest Express offers guided tours during the duration of the event to make sure you don’t miss any of the breathtaking displays. The event is open from 5:30-9:30 Sunday-Thursday and 5:30-10:30 Friday and Saturday and costs $5 to enter (kids under 11 are free!). In addition, hotels like the Grand, Quality Inn Oceanfront, and Quality Inn Boardwalk are offing discounted Winterfest packages that include luxurious accommodations, dinner, and tickets to the eye-popping extravaganza.
We could attempt to put the spectacle that is the Winterfest of Lights into words, but words don’t do it justice. Instead, allow us to show you how Ocean City celebrates the holidays:
