It’s almost Earth Day, so get outside, and travel across the Verrazano Bridge to the Assateague Island National Seashore this week! From April 17th to April 25th, admission is free because it’s National Park Week!
To make it easier for visitors to experience the great outdoors, the National Park Service has waived all entrance fees to 392 national parks, including Assateague Island National Seashore Park. The north entrance to the park is only 8 miles from Ocean City. With over 37 miles of beautiful beach, Assateague is considered one of the best beaches on the East Coast and offers a variety of programs to enhance your experience.
The Assateague Island National Seashore staff offers many programs, recreational activities, exhibits, and information about the island. Guided programs can be followed to enhance your visit and educate you about the ecosystems in the area. The constantly changing seashore ecosystem is something to learn about and appreciate.
In honor of Earth Day and National Park Week, go check out Assateague Island for free! Can’t make it this week? Daily individual entrance passes are $3, vehicles are $7/week, or $30/year.
Whether it be shell collecting, bicycling, walking, watching wild ponies, or driving along the stretch of beach, Assateague Island National Seashore is a great place to spend a day outdoors!
