Winds due to subside Sunday

imageWinds Should Subside by Sunday, Tidal Flooding Likely Through Monday

OCEAN CITY, MD – (October 3, 2015):   The current storm is expected to continue impacting the area through the early morning hours on Monday, October 5.  Residents and visitors should expect light rain, heavy surf and minor beach erosion to continue through Monday, however; winds should subside in the evening hours on Sunday.

The Inlet Parking Lot and the beach remain closed to the public until further notice. Due to strong rip currents that occur during and after storms, citizens are reminded not to swim in the ocean when conditions improve.

Various streets in Ocean City, specifically in the downtown area, are subject to closures due to impassible roadways at high tide over the next several days. Although no power outages have been experienced today, additional outages are possible during high tide cycles. Minimal damage and no injuries due to the storm have been reported at this time.

Hurricane Joaquin continues to track east, impacting Ocean City with potential flooding on Sunday and Monday. Minimal effects from the hurricane are expected for our area, although Ocean City’s Emergency Management staff continues to play close attention to the storm’s path.

The next update regarding weather conditions is expected to be before 12 p.m. tomorrow, Sunday, October 4.
