Zone A & B Should Prepare for Flooding, Liberal Leave Granted for Town of Ocean City Employees
OCEAN CITY, MD – (October 1, 2015): Predictions of significant rain and moderate to severe flooding are expected to begin in Ocean City over the next 24 hours. With a current storm system impacting the area, town officials are urging residents and property owners to stay informed and be prepared for flooding prior to Hurricane Joaquin.
In preparation for flooding, several pre-storm action items have been completed, including removing items from the beach and closing the sea wall gates. In addition, the Inlet Lot will be closed beginning at midnight tonight, in preparation of flooding during tidal cycles. Liberal Leave for Town of Ocean City employees has been granted for Friday, October 2.
Residents and property owners in ALL Zone A and B locations should prepare for moderate to severe flooding beginning in the early morning hours tomorrow, October 2. Preparedness efforts include tying up water vessels, removing outdoor furniture and securing objects susceptible to wind and flooding.
A news conference is planned for 11 a.m. tomorrow, October 2 at the Public Safety Building.
Before, during and after the storm, the Town of Ocean City will be posting storm related information on various websites, social media outlets and through the Emergency Alert system. Citizens are encouraged to Know Your Zone and Division and be prepared for any impact the storm may have on Ocean City.
