Come celebrate July 4th this year in Ocean City, MD! This year the town of Ocean City will be holding two great events to celebrate the holiday. Both events will be going on simultaneously from 8pm until 10pm. The events will be held at Northside Park at 125th street and the bay, and on North Division Street on the Beach. Each location will have a free concert for everyone to attend, as well as an amazing firework display to help celebrate the 4th of July the right way.
At the Northside Park location there will be a concert featuring The U.S. Army Band Downrange. Downrange is a group of volunteers from The U.S. Army Band, who first came together to play for deployed troops overseas. These volunteers got their name from being the first members to go “downrange” during foreign combat operations since the Second World War. Today, Downrange enjoys playing popular songs ranging in country, rock and R&B. Even though the group plays more modern music, they still inspire audiences with signature patriotic classics.
At the other end of town, on the North Division Street Beach, there will be a concert held by the 78th Army Band. The 78th Army Band is one of the premier bands under the 99th U.S. Army Reserve Support Command. The 78th Army Band will be sure to get you up on your feet and dancing. The band features a great Jazz Combo, Brass Quintet, Dixieland Band and Rock Band. The band only performs one weekend pe
r month and performs two weeks of active duty. In 2008 the band was organized and stationed in Fort Dix, N.J.
No matter what location you choose, be sure to get there early and bring a lawn chair and blanket to get the best spot for the always-amazing firework show over either the bay or the ocean. These two great locations offer the best views as well as great food and family fun entertainment. The concerts will begin at 8:00pm, and the fireworks will start at 9:30pm and will run until 10:00pm.
