A beautiful new 50-foot Christmas tree has been added to the Winterfest of Lights for the 2010 season. A candy can lane and poinsettia wreath have been refitted with LED lights. Also, a new tunnel of lights, composed of 20 individual arches, will guide guests towards the ticket booth this year.

The 50-acre Northside Park Winterfest of Lights display contains about 1 million lights total! The light spectacular costs the town of Ocean City about $350,000 each year it is displayed. The event attracts between 75,000 to 100,00 people annually. Winterfest of lights has been named a prestigious Top 100 event for 2010 and 2011 by the American Bus Association. Two years ago, America Online named Winterfest of lights the #2 light display in the country only second to Disney World.

Guests can hop onboard the Winterfest Express for a 12-minute ride through the lighted park. Santa’s House will be open every night through December 23rd for visits and pictures. Santa will be more than happy to review your children’s Christmas lists with them! The Yukon Cornelius Gift Shop is open for collectibles, stocking stuffers, and Winterfest souvenirs. The Ocean City Recreation Booster will have a café setup for hot chocolate and packaged cookies for purchase. The gift shop, café, and Santa’s House are located together in Winterfest Village, a large heated tent.
