Picking and Choosing their customers!
We recently traveled to OC on a family vacation. Last day we decided to have a nice dinner so we decided on Fresco's. There was 11 of us, 6 of which where children around thirteen.
When we arrived around 6:30 pm we noticed the parking was pretty empty and we didn’t have a problem finding a parking spot. We mustered the troops and headed to the door.
Before entering the main restaurant we decided to read the menu and see what they had to offer. We stood there roughly 10 - 15 minutes reading the menu, during which no new customers entered.
We decided the food on the menu sounded good so we entered and where greeted by and older gentlemen (Thinking owner or manager) and a younger female.
I approached and ask him for a table for 11 when he seemed a bit overwhelmed with all the commotion of my party entering the main area.
He gave me a look, then my party and said "Gee I wish I could but I think you will need a reservation for tonight", I was puzzled and ask him "What do you mean, you think?" With out him even looking at the guest book he said, "Yeah today usually you need a reservation".
I was getting a little annoyed on his looks and tone towards me, I then asked him "so does that mean no?" He said "yes sorry". I turned and walked away saying "ok all lets go, this place is really great".
We left without incident and went to Bull on the beach where the service and food was incredible!
I'm not real sure what happened but as I sat there and thought about the whole situation I picked apart the incident and felt like I was some dirt bag, not worthy of eating there.
Understand that we where not dressed inappropriately and well to do restaurant’s are in no way foreign to me because my work allows me to enjoy them frequently.
Either it was the controlled chaos of the kids, is not geared for large groups , or they simply did not like my group really annoys me.
Not even giving us a potential length of time to be seated really said everything to me. The thought of being denied completely for a group of eleven perplexes me. That would have been about $500.00 bill but yet we where not worthly of spending our money there.
Anyway he annoyed me enough to write this review. I would stay away. We definitely will and so will our friends and co-workers I will be telling.
