Creating new pages
From Ocean City Wiki
To create a new article in wikipedia you can choose one of several options:
1. You can create a link to a new article from within an existing article. Simply edit the article to put double brackets [[ ]] around the word or phrase about which you want to create a new article. For example, let's say you are reading an article in the Wiki about things to do in Ocean City. The article says, "one of the fun things to do in Ocean City is to fly kites". You decide to write a new article about kite flying in Ocean City. All you need to do is edit the article and add the double brackets around the word "kites" (so it looks like [[kites]] in edit mode) and save your changes. The Wiki will automatically create a link to a page called "kites". Click on the link to go to the blank "kites" article and edit the page to start writing the article.
--
2. If you enter a URL for an article that does not exist, the Wiki will let you create an article at that page. So if type in http://oceancitywiki.com/index.php/Kites for example, and there is no article already there, you can edit this page to write an article named "Kites".
--
3. If you search on a subject and no page article exists yet about that subject, the Wiki will give you the option of creating an article on that subject.
When no article is found that matches the subject you searched for, the Wiki will display the message
No page with this exact title exists, trying full text search.
Simply click on the link that appears at the words "this exact title" to begin creating an article on that subject. For example, there is currently no article on "Seashells" in the OceanCityWiki. If you search on Seashells, the Wiki will display the message "No page with this exact title exists, trying full text search." To create an article on Seashells you could click on the link that appears at the phrase "this exact title" which will bring you to a new page where you can start writing the article.

Another way of explaining how to create new pages:
- First, you can simply create an internal link to a new page, from an existing page. You would format it by writing within the page, an internal link as though it was an existing page. Once saved or previewed, the page would then link to a new page with the title as you wrote it, and you could begin to add text, images, etc. For example if you wanted to create a page linking from an existing page called, Ocean City Bicycles specifically to an uncreated page you want to call, Jen's Bike Rentals, you would type: [[Jen's Bike Rentals]] which would yield a page entitled Jen's Bike Rentals without brackets which would then link to a blank page.
- Second, you can create a page by entering a URL into the existing browser page. Easier still is editing the pagename part of a URL for an existing page. Using the URL for the new page displays the default 'no article' message (see MediaWiki:Noarticletext). The default page has the usual Edit this page link, which can be used to begin adding content.
