Ocean City is always fun and festive on July 4th. This year, Ocean City will have two big festivals celebrating America's independence. First, there will be a Jamboree in Northside Park (located at 127th and the bay). This Jamboree will begin at 5 pm and feature arts and crafts, children's games, live music, and tons of food stands featuring every carnival culinary creation one could imagine. The jamboree "fun field" features a moon-walk and a mini-train, carnival games, tug-of-war, sack races, soccer, and other games. You do have to register early for those games, so be sure to sign up by calling the Recreation and Parks Department at 410-250-0125 or 1-800-OC-OCEAN or visit go to the website at www.ococean.com.

The second highlight of the Ocean City July 4th experience is the concert and fireworks display. Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm and are shot off from the west side of the park. The concert, featuring the U.S. Navy Band'€™s Country Current at 7 p.m. and followed by the U.S. Navy Band and Sea Chanters Chorus at 8 p.m. is a popular option as well. It takes place at North Division Street and the boardwalk.

Parking on July 4th is really difficult given the very high volume of visitors that weekend. It's a good idea to take the bus. Bus service is 2 dollars a day and runs 24 hours a day. The West Ocean City Park and Ride on Route 50 just west of the bridge offers free parking and $1 shuttle service.
