It’s an established fact that Ocean City, Maryland knows how to kick back and have a great time. However, some may not know that Ocean City encourages its patrons and tourists to dress up in themed wear. Macky’s, on 54th Street on the Bay hosts theme parties for the inner nerd, hippie, Hawaiian, and patriot in you. These parties happen every Tuesday night; this week, it’s Redneck Night! To accompany the theme party, Macky’s features happy hour prices, like $4 bombs and $1.50 Natural Light beers. If you can’t make it to Macky’s on Tuesday, head on over Sunday for the steel drum music. It all happens around noon. You want music? Look no further than Fager’s Island! This whole week is packed with DJs and bands to keep your feet grooving. The music begins around 7 p.m.–the perfect time to watch the sun go down! Bring your own seats and money for drinks (alcoholic and not). Staying on the outdoor music theme, Wednesdays at North Division Street and the Beach host live music concerts at 8 p.m. This Wednesday is the first installment of the summer-long series. A very Ocean City event occurs this weekend–25th Annual OC Tuna Tournament! Watch the brave fishermen reel in huge tuna fish. Over 100 boats will sail the waters in hopes of bringing in a prize-winning tuna. Take your kids to movies on the beach at Ocean City, Maryland, and they’ll love you forever. At the beach at Princess Royale, check out Jack and Jill this Thursday. If Thursdays don’t work for you, 27th Street beach hosts movies on Mondays and Fridays. Monday’s movie is Yogi Bear, and Friday’s movie is Kung Fu Panda 2. Even if Monday, Thursday, and Friday don’t work for your family, you still have a shot with Wednesday movies on the beach at Carousel Hotel. This Wednesday, take the family to see Puss in Boots. Bring a beach chair, blankets, and drinks to enhance the fun for all three movies. All movies begin at 8:30 p.m. What are the perks for you, the parents? For starters, the movies are free. Second, it’s two hours that you can kick back on the beach and have something else keep your kids entertained. Everyone wins!
Sundaes in the Park continues this week. Bring your little tots and let them create ice cream sundaes for a small price. To accompany the ice cream treats, there will be live music by The Janitors and entertainment by Lollipop the Clown. These musical ice cream nights take place on Sundays at Northside Park at 7 p.m.
If you haven’t had the chance to see beach fireworks and the light show, head to North Division Street. The light show is scheduled on Sunday for three times: 9:30 p.m., 10 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. The beach fireworks are on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. Both events are free and for the family.
Want more fun on the beach for the kids? The beach at 27th Street hosts “Family Fun Olympics” every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Everything is free. Watch your kids make sand castles, play tug of war, and more with other area kids.
Berlin, about 20 minutes from Ocean City, hosts their infamous
Bathtub Races this Friday. Kids will love to watch actual bathtubs races around town. Peruse the antique shops and grab a bite at one of the town’s scrumptious restaurants while there.
