This week in OC: April 10-16, 2015

With Easter behind us and Memorial Day just 44 days away, we turn our attention to something that’s very near and dear to the hearts of all those who live or vacation in Ocean City, Md: CRAB. Whether you want to dine on delicious crabcakes, enjoy the crustaceans for a good cause, or learn to cook crab dip and crab imperial at home, Ocean City is all about the jimmies and sooks this week. Here are the highlights:

– If you’re looking to cure a crabcake craving, the Stevenson United Methodist Church in Berlin is hosting a crabcake dinner from 4-7 p.m this Friday, April 10. Cost is $10 and includes one crab cake sandwich, green beans and garden salad. Bake sale table and carryouts available. Call 410-641-1137 for more information.

– If you want to enjoy crab while contributing to a great cause, check out the the Arts & Crabs Against Cancer Fundraiser at Crabcake Factory Bayside, this Sunday from 12-4 p.m. This ‘crabtastic’ fundraiser  features guest bartenders, a silent auction and live music from Kaleb Brown and Bad Since Breakfast with proceeds benefiting cancer research. – Once you’ve gotten your crab fix, consider learning some great recipes to try at home! On Tuesday, April 14, Chef Jim Washington will host his All About Crab class at the Ocean City Library (10003 Coastal Highway) beginning at 2pm. Chef Washington will demonstrate how to prepare variations of his crab dip and as well a delicious crab imperial. Call 410-524-1818 for more information.

-Finally, OC Jetovator is the first watersport rental company in Maryland to give its customers the option to take flight on the newest vertical watersport creation- the hoveroard- and is giving one of it’s Facebook fans the chance to win one of the first flights (a $149 value) for FREE.
