Built in the grand style of Ocean City's Victorian era, the Dunes Manor Hotel is truly one of a kind. When you walk through our doors, you step back in time...to the gentle days of a bygone era. Afternoon tea is served in the lobby, and our verandah with its Victorian rocking chairs is a delightful place to read or visit with friends.

Dunes Manor Hotel: "A few employee issues."
Reason for Staying: Family Vacation
Date Staying: Aug 15 2008 to Aug 17 2008
We had a very pleasant experience. We loved having a real closet in the room. The personalities of the folks working at the outside bar and grill made it great fun to hang out there for awhile. I do have a few easy to fix complaints. We waited a fair amount of time at the main restaurant entrance 3 separate ocassions for someone to finally show up to seat us, and it wasn't crowded. Also, there was a young male attendant at the pool who was extremely preoccupied with the young girls in the pool. It was uncomfortably obvious. The other pool attendent and individual dressed in a blue uniform loudly discussed with someone in the pool about having to shut the pool down and shock it because some kid had a BM in the pool. Yuk, who needed to hear that. So, those few "customer service" training items would make a big difference to me. We loved the Victorian atmosphere, with the afternoon Tea and the piano playing in the evening. We will be back.

Dunes Manor Hotel: "Very very nice!"
Reason for Staying: Family Vacation
Date Staying: Aug 10 2008 to Aug 11 2008
I would go back to this hotel for a few reasons. It was clean in the central areas and in the rooms. The food was very good. However, the pool is not located near the food/ bar/ deck area, which was inconvenient for couples wanting to relax while the kids play. The pool location is the only reason why I would go somewhere else. Also, very homelike atmosphere with the piano and personable staff! Along with the afternoon tea. Really nice weekend getaway!

Dunes Manor Hotel: "Weekend getaway"
Reason for Staying: Romantic/couples vacation
Date Staying: Aug 08 2008 to Aug 10 2008
Not impressed by the Dunes. We were origionally in Rm. 702. Upon arrival we noticed many flies, nats and other bugs in our room. Front desk told us we could not be moved. Maintenance came up and attempted to fumigate the room. Manager came up as well and after a few minutes had us changed to Rm. 508 which seemed to be bug free. Unfortunately our impression of the hotel was already ruined. Rooms are very out or date. We were given two breakfast coupons for $10 for our trouble which we did not use. Who knows what kind of shape the kitchen is in. Overall very disappointed with the Dunes Manor Hotel. We will never stay there again.

Dunes Manor Hotel: "Our Stay at the Dunes"
Reason for Staying: Family Vacation
Date Staying: Jul 23 2008 to Jul 26 2008
Upon checking in our room, I thought it would be a little bigger, it seemed very small and a little over priced for the size, it appeared to be clean though and that is very important to us. The view from our balcony was spectacular and made up for the size of the room. We finally located the pool and we were told when we booked that they had an indoor/outdoor pool, I still haven't figured out how that works as it looked like they shut a gate and half of the pool becomes indoors, but whatever, we did not use the pool because of the location and it did not appear to be clean. We also requested on the third night a cot, and we were charged $10/night for this extra piece of furniture, I thought that was unjustified due to the cost of the room, we did ask that the cost be removed from our bill when we checked out 1 day early , but as usual we had a clerk that eiether chose to speak choppy English or couldn't and of course she did not know how to remove the charge, although it showed $20 and she was able to remove $10, how clever of her. We called down the first day we were there to see if something was wrong with our air conditioner, we ran it continously on the coldest setting the entire time we were there, we should have had ice hanging off of us and the room was still humid. They sent someone up and it appeared that they opened the air cond. box and checked the setting and left the room w/o doing a thing, whatever they did it did not help, they never called to see if the room was any better, and we let it go after that, what was the use? On the up side besides the view, the floor we stayed on was quiet, except for when the cleaning team would come each day and let the doors slam each time they go in and out to clean, I assume this is to wake up the guests so that they can get their job done. We also did not have to wait for the elevators very long as they move pretty fast. The access to the beach from the hotel is very convenient and they do have a hose that you can use to wash off before entering the building, although many of the amenities they have are not advertised very well, so you must find most of these things on your own. Parking was never a problem and that is a plus, and the hotel is close to the boardwalk and within walking distance of many of the things we enjoyed. If you choose to stay out on the beach after about 5:00 in the evening, the sun sets over the bay in front of the building, therefore behind on the beach you are left with shade, which is no big deal, unless you enjoy the warmth of the sunshine as we do for as long as you can feel it. You can move down the beach to the smaller hotels and back into the sunshine if this is a problem. All in all we had a nice vacation, although I would probably not stay at the Dunes again, unless I just wanted to see the Ocean from the balcany, I think I will try somewhere else next time.
