Things to do in Ocean City, MD April 16-22
Warm weather beckons, and this week in Ocean City, there are plenty of outdoors events to attend. Do good with Race for the Cure on the boardwalk, listen to great music on the decks at Seacrets and Fager’s. There’s also some intriguing indoor events this week. Dunes Manor Hotel hosts a rug exhibit. You can also taste fabulous wines at Fresco’s event this week. Or, try something completely new and listen to the women’s barbershop event! Enjoy your week!
Ocean City, Maryland Entertainment
Hey Ocean City, are you looking for music by great bands in a setting that spurs on fun and dancing? If so, Seacrets has all the entertainment you need this week. Head there on Friday, April 20, to see Lifespeed, an energetic rock band. Lifespeed plays from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, Seacrets has Joe Bachman & The Crew on stage at 10 p.m. This band of talented musicians brings you rock and great hits. Also on Saturday, check out Jon Maurer Band at 5 p.m. Element K, a group that focuses on anything popular and dance-inducing, is also at Seacrets. Join them on Saturday at 9 p.m. to enjoy hits from today and years past. The entertainment continues on Saturday with two exclusive Seacrets events. One of these, the Darkside Party, you know will bring you blacklights, DJs, bands, and drinks. Another of these parties, Woman to Woman Jamaica, is open to the public and emits a reggae vibe. Fager’s Island kicks off the weekend with lively music. First up, Kevin Poole at 5 p.m. Poole brings you hit music on deck. Also on Friday, DJ Rob Cee is there to jam and play requests. Later on Friday, see Dead Poets at 10 p.m. Saturday, Animal House plays tunes spanning the 50s to present day at 10 p.m. Opposite Directions plays at 5:30 p.m. You’ll also see Fager’s favorite, DJ Groove on deck at 9 p.m. Saturday. For those of you who have the patience and creativity to do crafts, this next event is for you. Dunes Manor Hotel at 28th St. & Baltimore Ave. brings you the annual hooked rug exhibit on April 19. See expensive rugs, wall hangings, and pictures. Both primitive and tapestry style pieces will be on exhibit. The event this Thursday is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. This educational yet interesting event is free to the public. Call Janice Russell at 410-289-4110 for more information.
Here’s another unusual event Ocean City supplies you with this week. On Friday and Saturday, the OC Convention Center hosts Sweet Adelines Convention & Competition, an event for women barbershop singers. This musical competition features more than 20 choruses and 25 quartets. There is a fee to see these talented women; inquire more through Brenda Cunningham at 609-463-8870. Friday, the singers brighten up the Convention Center at 5 p.m. and on Saturday, see these singers at 11 a.m.
Ever participated in a charity event? If not, Ocean City brings you your chance! This Sunday, April 22, there’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at the inlet parking lot. The race is a 5k walk or run–whatever you can manage. Participants begin and end on the boardwalk, so they can enjoy views of the beach while kicking breast cancer in the butt. In addition to the race, there is a one mile walk scheduled, which begins on the boardwalk and ends at the inlet. To participate, you must register by Saturday, April 21 at 4 p.m. online.
