Chick-fil-A Grand Opening Ceremony!
What a beautiful morning it was to celebrate such a wonderful event and an even better way to start off the day! The Chick-fil-a® Grand Opening Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting were held today, June 7th 2012 at 8:45 a.m. in West Ocean City at the new and well awaited Chick-fil-a location on Route 50. Various members from Ocean City’s Chamber of Commerce were joined by the owner of the new Chick-fil-a®, Ron DiFava and his beautiful family, Senator Jim Mathias, as well as the Founder of Chick-fil-a’s® grandson Mark Cathy; Truett Cathy (Founder) had made an appearance earlier the night before while tents and music were set up outside the restaurant in anticipation of the big opening.
Refreshments were served at 8:45 a.m. and full food service was in effect by 9:00 a.m. with overjoyed patrons and excited family members of Owner, Ron DiFava eagerly waiting to cut the ribbon and make it official! A personal interview with DiFava proved both his enthusiasm and the dedication he has to the new location by expressing his loyalty not only to Chick-fil-a, but also to Ocean City year round. DiFava with a smile goes on to say, “we were in Cape May, then Virginia Beach, but now we’ve found the right beach for us” after acknowledging that he and his family have moved their lives here and already feel a connection to the community, parents, and business owners throughout the city. That being said, his mission for the restaurant “is to be a lighthouse in this coastal community” and to personally get to know his new surrounding community members .
Shortly after Ron had spoken, Mark Cathy with a large grin on his face goes on to illustrate the unique history of Chick-fil-a® and how it has become such a strong business since 1946, with now 1,626 stores for Chick-fil-a® as of the Grand Opening in West Ocean City. The new location has two drive-thrus to ensure full customer satisfaction and Cathy offers his honor to be in Ocean City and explained what a special, special place it is for them to be here. With one last public statement before the ceremonies began, Cathy ensures, “all of Chick-fil-a® and its members work to glorify God by being faithful stewards of all that’s been trusted to us and have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-a®”.
Finally it was time to cut the ribbon and ready for a photo opp. However, Unique to Chick-fil-a®, a “First Bite Ceremony” was also held with the famous crispy chicken sandwich given to each of the affiliated business men and women to be bitten into and enjoyed as a symbol of the official first bites taken in Ocean City. It was most definitely a joyful event and one that was exciting to be a part of.
For Chick-fil-a® and its affiliates, we happily say “Eat More Chicken!”.
