What To Do This Week In Ocean City Maryland

If you’ve had just about enough of winter there is good news. Spring is almost ready to be sprung, as this weekend is the first weekend in March. While the official start of spring is still a few weeks away, there are a variety of Ocean City events to get you ready for spring no matter the weather.

Ocean City Events

There are always fun things to do in Ocean City and this weekend is no exception. The Saint Patrick’s Indoor Soccer Tournament continues this weekend at Northside Park. This is the 2nd of 4 weekends, with more than 150 teams expected to attend over the course of the four weekends. This weekend features the under 10 and under 14 age brackets. For registration and other general information visit www.oceancitymd.gov or give the Ocean City Parks & Recreation Department a call at: 410-250-0125.

The Art League of Ocean City has a new home and the grand opening celebration is Friday, March 1st. The grand opening includes a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30pm and features guest artist Patrick Henry. The League will have works by member artists in every media format imaginable.  Also down at the Ocean City inlet, the Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum will feature a historical display to run in conjunction with the grand opening event to celebrate the Art League’s 50th anniversary.  check out www.artleagueofoceancity.org for more information on this eagerly anticipated event.

Sticking with the artistic theme, the Berlin library will be hosting a forum for all disciplines of writing on Saturday, March 2nd. The library is located at 220 N. Main Street in Berlin and the forum begins at 10am. This event is for beginners and well seasoned alike. It is an opportunity to present your work and have it critiqued. There is also a workshop element where writers can learn how calculate market leads, determine a course for being published, and of course there are writing exercises as well. Contact: 410-641-0650 for more info on the Write It! creative writing forum.

On Sunday, one of the best known Ocean City attractions, is hosting a Relay for Life event. Relay for Life, the fundraising arm of the American Cancer Society, will be hosting a fundraising event at the Old Pro Golf 68th street location. There is a minimal entrance fee of $10 per person, which will include drinks and snacks. There will be a bake sale -one last chance to pack on some delicious calories before spring-, a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, local artists, and several vendors. Come out, play a few rounds of golf, and support a great cause.

Ocean City Nightlife

You don’t need a map of Ocean City to find a good night spot. All it takes is to walk out to Coastal Highway and you can find an attraction to suit your fancy. There are too many to list -as usual- but here are a couple new and few seminal hotspots to keep you entertained on this first weekend of march. -Johnny’s Pizza & Pub is holding an open mic night Friday, March 1st. -Fager’s Island had DJ Rob Cee on Friday and Opposite Directions, with DJ Groove following, on Saturday. -BJ’s on the Water has live entertainment both nights this weekend. Chest Pains takes the stage on Friday with No Byscuyts rocking on Saturday. -Adolfo’s Italian Restaurant located on the famous Ocean City boardwalk, at 13th Street, has live entertainment this weekend featuring Dale Britt and Rhonda Apple.
