Have you ever wanted to personally thank the men and women of the Maryland’s fire departments as they enjoy some rest and relaxation by the beach? If so, you will soon get the chance.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of renovation at the Ocean City, MD Convention Center, the MSFA (Maryland State Firemen’s Association) will be holding its 122nd Annual Convention and Conference. Firemen from all over Maryland will be congregating at the Convention Center and around town from June 14th-20th.
The public is invited to join the people of MSFA at the Convention Center to meet the firefighters and explore demos, stands and exhibits. There will be a wide variety of local vendors offering a plethora of products and merchandise as well as many stands with information on firefighting in Maryland.
The biggest event of the MSFA convention, however, is always the parade down Baltimore Avenue. The parade will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 18th, between 16th and 30th streets and will feature a fascinating ensemble of firetrucks and firefighting personnel.
Another one of the conference’s biggest events will be the 22nd Annual MFSA Golf Tournament at Eagles Landing Golf Course. The tournament will tee off at 7am on June 20th, the last day of the conference.
The 2014 Convention and Conference host hotel will once again be the Quality Inn Boardwalk. The hotel is located on 17th Street- an easy drive from the convention hall. There is also easy and inexpensive public transportation between the two areas provided by Ocean City’s Beach Bus. There will be a free golf cart shuttle service from bus stops and parking areas to the front door to make entering and exiting the Convention Center as easy as possible during construction.
In addition to the Quality Inn, which may fill quickly, the Harrison Hotel Group is offering a rebate to all MSFA members that decide to stay at one of their locations. Harrison Hotel locations include the Plim Plaza Hotel on 2nd Street, Holiday Inn Suites on 17th and Quality Inn Oceanfront on 54th.
