The Santé Review for The Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel:

“Horizons Oceanfront Restaurant, the main dining room in the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel, was honored this year by The Wine Spectator magazine. The Wine Spectator is considered the most well read and internationally respected magazine for those who love wine. For the past 14 years Horizons wine list has received the “Award of Excellence” in recognition for their well chosen selection of quality producers and thematic match to the menu in both price and style. This year Horizons Oceanfront Restaurant was privileged to be recognized with the “Best of Award of Excellence” – the second of The Wine Spectator’s three tiered award program. This honor is in recognition to restaurants that clearly exceed the requirements of the “Award of Excellence”; many are close to the highest honor, “The Grand Award” level. These lists display either vintage depth, with vertical offerings of several top producers from major regions, or excellent breadth spread over several winegrowing regions. These wine lists typically offer over 400 or more selections, along with superior presentation.

Horizons wine book, “The List” has over 440 selections from around the world and offers great depth in both the French Bordeaux and California Reds. Particular attention is paid toward the collection of some of world’s most renowned vineyards, where nuances of vintages is given added attention. New this year is a section featuring the local wines from the Delmarva Peninsula. This is an exciting area that Horizons Oceanfront Restaurant is looking forward to expanding.

If you are looking to try one of the great Old World wines or taste a New World vintage, you definitely want to come to Horizons Oceanfront Restaurant.  Each wine listed has the tasting notes from the winemaker or reviewed by a well respected aficionado. “The List” is written as a guide to appreciation, regardless of what you bring to the table.  Life is indeed a banquet, and Horizons Oceanfront Restaurant is pouring the wine!”

This is a great honor not only for Dr. Leonard Berger, the owner of this beachfront hotel, but for Ocean City, the Delmarva Peninsula, and Maryland – the only hotel and restaurant in the state to receive this distinction.
