Services for the Physically Challenged

Ocean City strives to be accessible to all who want to visit this fabulous oceanfront resort.

The Town of Ocean City is pleased to provide

• ADA Paratransit Service
• Curb-to-curb bus service for those meeting ADA eligibility requirements. Call the Department of Transportation at 410-723-1606 to schedule your trip one day in advance.
• Beach access and beach wheelchairs

There are blue access signs located along Coastal Highway at the street entrances.  These signs designate areas where access to the beach is provided for the physically challenged.  Beach wheelchairs are also available on a first come, first served basis from the Beach Patrol (more information below).  These areas include:

• Inlet Beach and Inlet Parking Lot
• Somerset St.
• Talbot Street
• N. Division Street
• 12th St.
• 25th St.
• 35th St.
• 37th St.
• 40th St.
• 48th St.
• 59th St.
• 70th St.
• 81st St.
• 89th St.
• 94th St.
• 107th St.
• 120th St.
• 130th St.
• 139th St.
• 145th St.

Beach access but no wheelchairs are available at the following locations as well:

• 7th St., 27th St., and 30th St.

The beach wheelchairs are provided at the first list of locations by the Town of Ocean City from Memorial Day to Labor Day daily during the guarded hours of the beach:  10 am – 5 pm.  The chairs must be used within one block of its assigned location.  All chairs must be returned to the Beach Patrol by 5 pm.  Beach wheelchairs are also available at the Ocean City Plice Department ( 65th St., bayside 410-723-6610) or the the Convention Center (40th St. bayside 410-723-8610).  These chairs are also available on a first come, first served basis and can be reserved in advance for one or more days.  Certain restrictions may apply.  Never take the chairs into the water and only use them on the beach.

Parking is free in any space with a handicap tag, except at the inlet lot where the first 90 minutes are free, but full price is charged after 90 minutes.
