It's like everything. The sponsors of the site lost interest so the members lost interest. Once they got rid of the sand dollars, that sort of killed it for sure. But I'm still here. *waving hi*

It's really a shame that this site isn't more active. Years ago there was an Ocean City board that somehow was operated thru the Beach-Net.com site that was very active. It existed for many years. I don't know what happened to it.

Well "hi" to you too! Trip Advisor has an active OC page https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForu..._Maryland.html and Facebook has several pages too. And if you have questions you can ask the OC Insiders at www.ococean.com/insiders . Lots of ways to get info about Ocean City.

Sand dollars? Seriously, I don't even know what they are or how they are used. If sand dollars are the reason for the decline then why is "Trip Advisor or facebook still pretty active"? I don't believe there is any incentive based programs to post on them.

Let's face it. This site is not very active because most of us regular users are pretty boring

Speak for yourself, I am one of the most fascinating people I know! ;-)

Back in its hey-day this site was ahead of the social media curve. Forums were THE way of communicating on topics and folks thought nothing of going to a sight, logging in and perusing messages -- and even responding.

Today for many topics the book of face has replaced the forum / message board. It's a little more instantly gratifying and stuff comes to you without really doing anything. Kind of nice for spur of the moment thoughts and off the cuff pictures etc. The Ocean City Cool FaceBook group has a lot of activity -- I don't know who (if anyone) sponsors that or drives the content. I still prefer the forum / message board for interactive discussions and content that needs or deserves to live longer.

But what do I know, I'm still debating opening a MySpace account! ;-)
