    Windmill Construction Started Offshore

The windmill construction project is now visible on the horizon from Ocean City. I am certainly all for reducing our reliance on fossil fuels but am a tad sad to see permanent structures now on the horizon.

We have them everywhere around where I live and they're actually quite fascinating and not intrusive at all. You'll barely notice them.

Same here (in southcentral PA). They are on most of the mountain ridges. I actually find watching them spinning to be quite soothing. Certainly not an "obstruction" of my view.

I'm just a few miles from Duncansville! There are a lot of them on top of the mountain in the Blue Knob area.

OK....I have been watching this thread for a couple days and is nobody going to address the original premise. I spent New Years week down there staring at the beautiful ocean despite some of the weather. Last I checked the Environmental site assessment has not even been submitted to the EPA. They were surveying the area this past summer. After the site assessment has been approved the final site plans would have to be approved which I don't believe could happen before 2017 at the earliest and if any of you deal with the Federal Govt or any other Govt you know how long it could really take. IF and I mean IF all the approvals are granted and financing has been approved and construction starts, the windmill field will be located about 12 to 30 miles offshore. Most days you can't see that far with binoculars. On the very clearest of days you MAY be able to see that something is way out on the horizon but there is no way you would be able to tell they are windmills.

So, if you are against the project because you think it is not cost effective (like me) or that it will endanger birds or affect commercial fishermen or that it is being developed by an Italian Company (like me), that is one thing. But to say it will ruin the views or that "the construction has started and is already visible on the horizon" is a false narrative or my eyes aren't what they used to be.

Antique Depot will go out of business! And you'll miss your day trip to Leighty's and Holland Bros., not to mention Sam's Club in beautiful Altoona! LOL

I'm with DCTech on this one. I'm not at all a fan of permanent structures out there on the horizon. No real reason other than I like to watch for lights/movement on the horizon and put a scope on them to find something marginally interesting like a ship making it's way up or down stream. Spotting windmills on the horizon doesn't seem all that sporting.
