Thanksgiving 2012
My wife and I decided to forego the beach this summer for a relaxing trip over Thanksgiving weekend, my question is are there restaurants open on actual Thanksgiving day that are worthy? We really aren't looking for buffet style, also any recommendations on a nice oceanfront hotel that we won't spend an arm and a leg for would be appreciated? Thanks in advance!

Re: Thanksgiving 2012
I've been in OC for Thanksgiving the past several years, although we cook our own TG dinner. There are lots of traditional Thanksgiving meals, both buffet and otherwise. I'd recommend either Fager's Island or Captain's Table. As far as a place to stay, I'd recommend the Dunes Manor. My family often stays there in the off season. It is nice and its rates are reasonable.

The Shark and Reflections usually have very good ala carte traditional Thanksgiving meals. Reservations are recommended for these, especially the Shark.

There have also been posts on this forum for the Clarion. I also know one person who has personally told me he and his wife go there every year and say it's great.

I would reccomend the Clarion as well but be advised that longtime Chef Helmut has recently retired and the new chef has yet to be tested.

Re: Thanksgiving 2012
There are lots of great choices for restaurants (some already mentioned in this thread) my advice would be - wait till it gets closer, and check the online papers ie, Dispatch, OC today, ect. for their Thanksgiving specials... Also you might find a package deal for a hotel/restaurant once it gets closer to the holiday as well....
ALSO by that time THIS SITE should have a new format, that will provide you with Thanksgiving specials at local restaurants, and lodging.
I also wouldn't limit my options to the OC itself, as there are many great restaurants in west Oc, Fenwick Is, and Berlin - Drummers Cafe at the Atlantic Hotel in Berlin is a perfect choice for a Holiday meal, and is only about 5 miles from OC.
