    A Long Summer

This is the first summer in a long time that we did not come to OC. I started a new job(very good) and it required me to start the date that I had booked for OC. We planned to visit for a short time in late June, but the weekend before we were to leave our son broke his arm and the ortho would not give him a waterproof cast. Thanks to all of you for keeping us posted on the summer! We have not been there since April and probably will not get down prior to October. Have a great summer!

I'm sorry you couldn't make it down this summer. I can't imagine not getting my annual trip down to the beach. Maybe with some luck you can get down there in September, the water is still excellent for swimming and crowds are much smaller. Good luck.

    Re: A Long Summer

Your story reminds me of a situation we were in years ago - My wife had just gotten hired for a new job, and we had to cancel our July trip, costing us our $800 deposit on the condo. I suggested we take an immediate emergency trip to the beach just days before she started with the new company. Being that it was a month earlier, and the loss of the deposit, she asked me if we could afford to go? To which I said, "it's summer, you're starting a new job with 16 weeks of training... we can't afford NOT to go!"

It looks good for the end of September! With the move our son is not playing fall travel soccer and we will have all of our weekends free. Friday - Sunday is better than none.

Glad it worked out for you. The ocean water is still warm this time of year but the lifeguards last day of the season was last Sunday so do be careful near the water.

I had no idea there were waterproof casts. How did it turn out?
