    Re: Cheapest motel rooms!!

I agree with Hap, a condo might be a great way to go for you. You may need to book condos for the full week, but some offer mini weeks. I recommend starting with their websites to narrow your choices, and then working with an agent to finalize your selection. Two realtors I've used recently and been very happy with are:

    Coldwell Banker: 800.633.1000http://www.cbvacations.com/
    Shoreline Properties: 800.492.5832 http://www.shorepro.com/

Here are a few places near the boardwalk that could also be options:

Sahara, 19th Street on the boardwalk with ocean block buildings too. No pool. A basic motel that will be clean, but will not have lots of amenities. (http://www.saharamotel.com/), $134 on weekends in season. Their building on the west side of Baltimore Avenue probably has the most affordable rooms on this list.

The Spinnaker is right off the boardwalk at 18th Street (ocean block) http://www.ocmotels.com/spinnaker/. It is a great property, and being ocean block it will be bit more affordable. Many rooms have balconies with a view of the beach and ocean. They have an outdoor pool.

Dunes Motel is at 27th Street, right at the north end of the boardwalk at the tram station. It is an ocean front hotel with many ocean front rooms with balconies. It is a great, affordable ocean front motel. It also has rooms with balconies that face the bay. They have an outdoor pool. http://www.ocdunes.com/

The Flamingo is just north of the boardwalk at 31st Street. It is ocean block with 3 buildings and an indoor pool so it will be more affordable than the ocean front places. They have indoor and outdoor pools. http://www.theflamingomotel.com/

I agree with the comments that a condo is probably a less expensive option since you want 2 hotel rooms. Other than that, the cheap places are cheap for a reason.

Im not worried about it being fancy because we dont plan on spending much time in the room. i just want a cheaper place to stay and if anyone knows of a nicer cheap motel that is what im looking for.
Have you been to OC before? I'm asking because the rides/amusements don't start until the "name" streets and I didn't know that when I first came down to OC (Before internet was widely available) and we were disapointed. (I stayed by 26th street)

    Re: Cheapest motel rooms!!

Actually, the boardwalk is laid out like this. It is 2.5 miles long. It begins in the southern end at the inlet and continues northward about 8 or 10 blocks that have names like Somerset, Dorchester, Caroline, etc. and then you'll come to 1st St. The boardwalk then continues on to 27th St. The rides and arcades are located in the named street area. There are shops all up and down the boardwalk, but the majority of them are below 12th St. They become more scattered the further up the boardwalk you go. So if rides, etc are important to you then you'll want to stay below 10th St. It's still a good hike so if you have problems walking then you will want to stay even lower.

There is a tram that runs the length of the boardwalk in the summer though that you can pay and ride. Either way, those rooms in the summer usually go for the most money.

Yeah, I was very pregnant on my first trip, and even though I couldn't go on rides, I still wanted some Thrasher's Fries and Carmel Corn (and my husband wanted to go on some high thrill rides) we wound up taking the tram car down and back. It was easy to get at the end (26th) street, but on weekends or July 4th you might have trouble getting on one at a random mid point during evening hours
