    Re: Irene

Sounds like there was a confirmed tornado that touched down in Lewes.

A tornado spawned from Hurricane Irene did touch down in the Nassau Station development off New Road west of Lewes. WGMD’s Dan Gaffney says three homes were affected by the tornado, but one did lose much of its roof. The worst damage occurred at homes that were not occupied. The third home missed a children’s bedroom and hom by just a few feet. There were no injuries.

    One in Salisbury too............

So scary. I'm praying for the best for everyones family, pets and homes. The news is saying the worst of the storm will be at around 2am. I'm hoping it will not be as bad as they predicted and everyone can return to their homes safe and sound tomorrow.

    Re: Irene

I joined the forum here on Irene just to let you all know

how much I enjoyed reading all your posts leading up to the

    hurricane.

I spent a couple summers working in OC and I do believe we had

to evacuate at just this time of year--- ruined the last Labor Day

of my last summer working at the beach-- 1967.

Living so far away (some 2500 miles?), but so nice to pop over-- I'll

check back in tomorrow (it *is* tomorrow for you!) and see if you've

held on! With Best Wishes, Jude in the Okanogan

It's about 15 past midnight, the winds have picked up some.............. a little moar "growl" to the howl.

    This is a video from tonight before it got worse........... I sped up the first half;

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_qGT53YiuU[/video]]

Filmed 8 hours before the eye passes just offshore (around 2am) in conjunction with the astronomical high tide occuring at 1:30AM. From 6PM or so to about midnight it has been relatively quiet....... not much increase in intensity until now. We didn't get much rain here either, well not the heavy downpours they said we would get. Winds are currently about 30MPH with gusts to 64MPH.

    Re: Irene

    Just woke up.

    Never lost power.

No evidence of flooding in the neighborhood, that was my big concern.

    Thank God all is well.

I am going to have my coffee and go check out the beach with metal detector in hand.

Great to hear you're ok. Take your cameras with you. I was lucky to be able to connect to some of the web cams that showed the boardwalk and all looks good, even the beaches. Did the storm just peter out just for OC because they're saying NY is going to get pounded.
