There always has to be a group of animals who don't know how to act in society and create an unsafe enviroment for the law abiding citizens. They need to stay in their own areas where their behavior is "acceptable".

Stay tuned, I'm sure we will be reading about a Police brutality lawsuit in the future.

Here's the best part.....they (the officials) want to make public drinking (carrying beer and other various alcoholic beverages) legal. Yippie.....I'll be able to turn on the news and see O.C. all the time. Shameful! These people need to get their heads out of their butts!

This is absolutely wrong. They do not want to make public drinking LEGAL. They want to decriminalize it, there is a big difference. They want to change it to make it not an arrestable offense anymore just like speeding. Is speeding legal? No, but you still have to pay a fine, just like the change they want to make to the alcohol laws. If you are caught in possession of an open container of alcohol, it will be a $200 fine, which will be reduced to $100 if paid within 48 hours.

This way the officer's time will not be taken up with having to transport the offender to lockup, filling out paperwork, etc. and the office will be able to spend more time on the beat instead of doing paperwork for a minor offense.

And by the way, the town council voted on this Monday night (5/5/08) and it passed on a 6-1 vote. The measure still has to pass a second reading in two weeks before it can become law.

Almost sounds like the cops have been whining about having to do the work involved with the arrests. Too much trouble I guess. Tickets and fines..........kids will laugh in your face. This is an awful move on OC's part. It definitely takes away the appeal to parents of younger children for vacationing in OC. Even for me, and older retired person. Oh well, there's always somewhere else to go.
