    Christmas Train Garden

    Hello All,

My wife and I are planning on going to Ocean City next month for the Winterfest of Lights. We went last year and really enjoyed it.

I was wondering if anyone knew if there will be any train gardens to see down there.

A Google search yielded this from two years ago. I'm not sure if this still exists.

    Thanks in advance.

I found this great link to some area train gardens. One in Snow Hill and one in Cambridge, but I didn't see any in OC. You could always drive to Berlin. They have a wonderful toy shop there with a great train display.

    Z,

Thanks for the link. I'll take that into consideration, especially if the weather's not so great.

Since we'll only be in town for the weekend, we'll likely stay in Ocean City proper. I read that they're doing horse carriage rides with Santa Claus on the Boardwalk in December, so I think we'll do that at some point.

The horse and carriage ride is really nice. I think you'll enjoy it. And the Winterfest of Lights at Northside Park is a must. The Carousel Hotel usually has holiday ice skating shows so you might want to check that out (they've had them every year, so I'm assuming they will again this year). You can ask the Ocean City Insiders too. I am one, but I don't live in OC. Some of them do, and they may be able to tell you first hand about the train displays in the area. www.ococean.com/insiders
The Texas Tenors are at the Convention Center on November 28, and Ronnie Milsap is performing on December 4th if either of those fall into your schedule. And the Christmas Parade is December 6th at 11 a.m. from 100th St. to 115th St. And there will be a performance of the Nutcracker on Dec. 5th at the Performing Arts Center at the Convention Center on 40th St.
Something else, if you're in Berlin, go to the corner of Main and Jefferson St, and turn onto Jefferson St. You'll find the Jeffrey Auxer glass studio. You can make prior arrangements to make your own glass ornament, or you can purchase one already made or another piece of his art work as a souvenir.
    Just a couple of ideas.

    Z,

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

We did Winterfest of Lights for the first time last year, and really enjoyed it.

I'm looking forward to it even more this year since we're actually going in December. Due to scheduling issues we went before Thanksgiving last year, and I really don't like going Christmas stuff before Turkey Day. So, we're going full Christmas this year, including listening to Christmas CDs by The Beach Boys and Tran Siberian Orchestra on the way to the beach.

We won't be there the first week of December as we're checking out the Hampden Christmas Parade in Baltimore.

But we might check out Berlin.

Here's a link to the Delmar train event, which is happening next week: http://www.delmarvamodelrailroadclub.org/events.html Delmar is about 35 minutes from Ocean City.
Also, we've established a page for the Pocomoke event: http://www.oceancity.com/directory/e...aadea91e6.html
