    Giant Ferris Wheel

    Can any one tell us what happened to the giant ferris wheel at Jolly Rogers amusement park on the boardwalk, it's gone.

    yes there is,the 9th. st.

    yes there is,the 9th. st. cam (that is down right now)and the Carolina st. cam,and the New Ocean Gallery cam....I just looked...it is gone!

    In the past during the off

    In the past during the off season they would only remove the passenger "cars" and allow the remaining structure to "free-wheel" in the wind.

    That thing would occasionally get going pretty fast depending on the speed and direction of the wind.

    I am pretty sure they

    I am pretty sure they removed it to sandblast, prime and paint it. They usually do this about every 8 to 10 years or so. The base and several large steel parts are still on the pier dismantled, I saw them last weekend when I was down. If the ride we permanently removed, they would have removed the base structure as well.
