In honor of National Public Lands Day, the entrance fee at the Assateague Island National Seashore will be waived on Saturday, September 25th. You will be able to enter the National park for free at both the Maryland and the Virginia entrance sites.
National Public Lands Day celebrates service and recreation on public land. The program educates volunteers about the effects of climate change and other environmental changes in our nation’s parks. National Public Lands Day is constantly reaching out for volunteers. Adults and youth are encouraged to get outdoors on this day to help improve their favorite national parks or other parks around their neighborhoods.
Those who enter the Assateague Island Nation Seashore on September 25th will be enjoying National Public Lands Day with guest from more than 1,600 other parks, refuges, and public land throughout the United States. Visitors to the seashore on this day are encouraged to help keep the beaches, roadways, and other areas of Assateague clean during the day of celebration.
The usual daily fees for entering the National Seashore are:
-Foot/Bicycle: No Fee
The Maryland district on the island is open year round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is your chance to have a fun, free day at Assateague while making a difference. For more information about National Public Lands Day at Assateague Island National Seashore, stop by the Assateague Island Visitor Center before the Verrazano Bridge.
