Ocean City’s world-famous Boardwalk is waiting for you to visit. With the clean white roller coaster looming against an azure sky to the South, the smell of Thrasher’s fries and Fisher’s popcorn wafting by you as you walk under a gigantic shark that appears to have crashed through the Ripley’s Believe it Or Not building, the sites and sounds and smells of Ocean City invite you. The Travel Channel voted Ocean City Maryland’s Boardwalk as one of the “Best American Boardwalks” and USA named our Boardwalk as one of the top 10 great Boardwalks in the country. The Travel Channel noted: “Ocean City is the picture-perfect boardwalk. From the tiny train that chugs along the three-mile promenade to the antique carousel that dates back to 1902, Ocean City has kept its sense of a bygone era while keeping its attractions fresh.” The Ocean City Boardwalk had humble beginnings. Originally, boards were laid out on the sand so visitors to this oceanfront resort could stroll along the beach in their finest attire after a scrumptuous meal served in their oceanfront hotel. The structure has expanded since these early days to almost 3 miles of permanent Boardwalk with benches, lights, Boardwalk hotels, restaurants, rooftop bars, and a multitude of shopping options. Hermit crabs and henna tattoos can be found in many of the Boardwalk stores. In case you think only the souvenir shops and typical beach attractions line the Boardwalk, think again. Park Place Jewelers sell ocean inspired diamond and gold jewelry along with all the traditional jewelry one expects.
