The vastly popular, fastest growing early season tradition in Ocean City is set to return for a 4th straight summer. After a lengthy debate over the dates and concerns about the event being too close to July 4th, the Dew Tour is officially set to return to Ocean City, Md June 26-29, 2014, bringing the world’s most extreme action sport athletes to the beach.
The first of three stops in a summer long competition broadcast on NBC, the Dew Tour Beach Championships in Ocean City will showcase athletes from all over the world as they attempt to bike, skate, and surf their way to Dew Tour immortality. Maryland’s own Bucky Lasek is a perennial favorite at the Dew Tour, as are many other of the world’s best skaters, surfers, and bikers from both past and present.
“We are proud to host the Dew Tour,” said Mayor Rick Meehan. “It is a great honor for Ocean City. We have developed a tremendous partnership and working relationship, which has helped us develop other events in town. The exposure we get on national television Ocean City shows absolutely beautifully, and it just works so well with the Dew Tour. It is what we are all about being an outdoor family activity … and I hope we can continue this partnership for many years to come.”
The 2013 Dew Tour brought over 100,000 action sport fans to Ocean City, and, since attendance levels have steadily increased each of the first 3 years, 2014 is shaping up to be the biggest and most exciting year yet. Make you plans to attend now, and check back often for the latest Dew Tour updates as they become available.
