My wife and I take the kids to OC this weekend every year for the Sea Witch Festival in Rehoboth Beach.  It is a short drive up the coast, and it is a great time every year.  This year was no exception.  The forecasters were calling for rain all day on Saturday, yet we woke up to sunshine, and it was a mix of sun and clouds all day with only a few drops of rain.  We went up on both Saturday and Sunday.  The parade is absolutely the best Halloween parade I have ever seen, with two marching bands (a local high school and Wilmington University), lots of floats, balloons, and creative costumes.  The crowd was extremely festive.  They also have literally dozens of activities for kids (magicians, facepainting, beach games, contests, pony rides on the beach, a horse parade, scarecrow-making, etc.)  The only thing we will skip for next year was the trick-or-treating on Saturday night.  The sidewalks were overcrowded, and the crowd seemed a bit pushy and obnoxious.  On Sunday, my son and I ran in the Sea Witch 5K, and he finished in first place in his age group!  It was a great time.

On Saturday, we got take-out from the Blue Ox.  It was my first trip to the "new" Blue Ox, and I was impressed.  We got very good burgers, decent wings, and very good pretzel breadsticks with cheese.  My son went with me to pick up the food, and we went to the game room while we waited.  It was very nice and kid friendly.  We will definitely be going back.  Very family friendly with good food.  On Sunday, we got a Ponzetti's pizza.  Excellent as usual!  I know there was a thread a few months back on Best Pizza, and I want to reaffirm my vote for Ponzetti.  Their pizza is just plain good!

We did not make it to the OC Halloween Party with everything going on in Rehoboth.  The advertising for it was sparse.  I think it was to take place in the Northside gym on Saturday from 1-3.  If anyone was a report on it, I would be interested in hearing some details.  I think it pales in comparison to the Sea Witch Festival.  We had a great time and will definitely be going back next year!

Sounds like a good time. I think this is the first time I've ever heard of any Halloween-related events in the Rehobeth/OC area. What activities do they have at the OC Halloween Party?

It is called the Halloween Spook-Out Party.  Mink66 is correct--it is this weekend from 1-3 at Northside Park.  The Chamber of Commerce website says that there will be games, hayrides, arts and crafts, and a costume contest.  As I wrote in my first post, I would definitely like to hear more details if anyone decides to go.
