It's been about 3 years since I had Tony's pizza. It is decent, much better than Dough Rollers, but even then the pizza box is better that the Dough Roller pizza. The last time we ate anything from Tony's, I ordered 3 large cheese pizzas for carryout and the total was nearly $60.00! I think that almost $20 for a large pizza is outrageous and I have not been there since.

In all the years we've gone to OC, we've eaten pizza there almost every time, but never tried the rooftop deck. We enjoy their pizza, but much prefer Three Brother's Pizza in the Gold Coast Mall. They have two medium pizzas for $10.99. And it's really good pizza. We usually get one large and two bottles of soda and sit outside on their patio.

Two years ago my girlfriend, her kids and I went to Tony's while in OC and ate on the rooftop deck. It's pretty cool especially if you can get a table near the edge. It's a great place to relax, eat pizza and people watch, one of my favorite things to do in OC. I persoanlly think the pizza is pretty good if you like New York style pizza. My girlfriend LOVED their white pizza and we ended up making a second trip just to get some white pizza later in the week. They even have a bar on the rooftop deck. I'd agree with nlfissel in the fact that it's certainly not the cheapest pizza in OC but it is a unique experience to look out over the boardwalk while dining.

Every time we walk the boardwalk we always have to stop into Tony's for a slice of pizza. It's the epitome of "boardwalk pizza"! It is some of the best pizza I've had at the beach. Plus they have the parmesan, oregano and red pepper flakes ready for you to sprinkle on. Perfect!

We always get it to go and eat on a bench, but some day I'd like to try their rooftop area.

Now I'm hungry. :)

A few years ago we rented a house with friends of ours for a weeks vacation. They raved about Tonys Pizza and how it was the best on the planet. I dont know what planet they are from it was horrible. Floppy and discusting. Ugh! :(

NY Style pizza is supposed to be "floppy". For proper NY Style pizza you should be fold the slice in half lengthwise and this is the way most people eat it.

Perhaps you prefer a thicker crust and just don't care for NY Style? Different strokes for different folks. :D

I worked at Tony's Pizza way back in 1971. I think the pizza tasted a lot better back then....maybe because I didn't have to pay for it helped!

I've posted this before about Tony's. My husband and I started going in the late 70's when we started dating when it was a dark hole in the wall beer and pizza place with no deck. We go every time we're in OC and always on our arrival it's one of the first things we do. Our boys (21 and 23) grew up with it as a tradition. It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but it's inexpensive and we all loved it. My husband and I were in OC for the wine festival last Sept and the first thing we did after grabbing some Thrasher's was go get pizza at Tony's. To us, it is OC.
