We are making our annual trip (20 and counting) to OC for a week on Aug 4. We will be at the Marigot in a private rental thru Coldwell Banker, our third time at this particular condo. We go out to eat every night, two adults, no kids. We prefer decent sit down dinners, do not do all you can eat. We did that when we had our kids with us. There are only two places on the must go list for dinner: Captain's Galley II and Harrisons. Maybe JR's, depends if I am all fished out toward the end. We will also do a breakfast or lunch at Crabcake Factory. So, we have 5 dinners to plan. As always I am reading lots on the net and have a few new choices. Any opinions would be appreciated.
Harborside Bar & Grille
Island Cafe
Plantation House
Micky Fins
Grove Market (I know about cash only, what are typical entree prices)
Salvatore's
Crabman's
Any good Fenwick restaurants?
Any good restaurants on Rte 54?

These are all places we have never been to. There are so many that we have gone to, but never so impressed to go back. Not saying we are picky, just like new dining experiences. If you have any suggestions, bring them on!

Thanks,
Tom:)

Harborside is great - a fun place, usually crowded, and really good bar grub.

Island Cafe (if you mean the one in N. OC) - a "local's" place, so it is usually crowded, but with really good food.

We have two "Favorite Places" in Fenwick Island, DE...

1. For all around home-style cooking we like Dirty Harry's and have been going there for several years.

2. For truly upscale dining you should try Nantucket - it is on a par with Ristorante Antipasti in OC. It is not a very large place so you should make reservations. We get there a couple of times per year.

Dirty Harry's has by far the worst crab cake I have ever had in my life. They taste as if someone took a slice of bread and a half of hand full of claw meat and squeezed them together.

Harborside is an excellent, casual place with great views of the West OC Harbor. However, be aware that they have no Air Conditioning, but lots of fans. On a real hot day it stays hot in there!

Mancini's in Fenwick Island has some pretty decent Italian for a good price.

Have you ever been to Liquid Assests on 94th St. or Galaxy 66 on 66th St.? Both offer a pretty unique dining experience.

In West OC, have you been to Sunset Grille? If not, I'd recommend that place before going to Plantation House. Nothing wrong with Plantation House food and drinks, but the atmosphere at Sunset Grille is much nicer.

Grove always seems to work out to about $50 a person with wine and tips.

They dont list the prices but an average entree is about $18-$30

Very quiet here at Maryland.com.

We leave from NY for OC Friday Aug 3. Staying over in Dover Friday night (dinner suggestions?) to beat the Saturday traffic. Plus we get a full beach day in on Saturday!

I have narrowed down our dining choices based on personal experience and information gathered here.

In no particular order:
Captains Galley
Harrisons
Harborside
Smoker's BBQ Pit
Grove Market
Micky Fins
Plantation House
Salvatore
(I am one over!)

Your recent experiences and opinions are most appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom

1. Love Captain's Galleys' cream of crab soup. Good food. The salad bar is (or at least look like) an old boat.
2. Food is okay. I think you pay more for the view which is awesome. Look in the Sunny Day guide /local papers for coupons. Usually good for a free appetizer or cocktail.
3. We've eaten here for lunch only, but it was pretty good. Like the jerk chicken wrap
4. One of my favorite places to grab carryout from in OC. Their smoked fish and the smoked chicken salad are wonderful. BTW if you like BBQ, Em-ings BBQ in Bishopsville is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!. Blink and you might miss the place. It looks run down but the food is great.
5. Cool place for cocktails and tapas. Usually have some kind of live music outside near the docks. Does't hurt either that my brother-in-law used to fish with the owner, Buddy Trala.

We'll be down during that same week. Who knows maybe we'll run into each other and not know it.:p

Plantation House is Closed.

Smokers Pit is TO GO Only. Well they do have picnic tables.

Hit Crabcake Factory for Breakfast. Had the Lump Benedict today there with
a watermelon smash. There are rarely lines, the bar opens at 8 AM and the
portions and preparation are awesome.

Not sure you will get in the Grove unless you already have a reservation.

I like the appetizers at Galaxy 66. Fresh Cheese and Fruit plate with honey.
Tenderloin tips and Lobster club are very good. The Skye Bar is cool on nice nights. Apps are not real expensive, sit at the lower bar. They have acoustic music too.

Faustos much better Italian. For Cheap Italian thats decent try 3 Brothers in Gold Coast Mall.

If you are in the Pines area, hit the Racetrack then go to Steer Inn Tavern for some Live Music.

The Plantation House has closed...............

Grove Market............excellent but you must have a reservation. With the tip it is usually about $90. We always share an apt and desert. Maybe have two drinks each with dinner. Best place down there. No menu. No frills either.
