Hey, all! Just wanting to write and check in about Ruth's Chris steakhouse. I listen to Sean Hannity once in a while and have heard him advertise the restaurant and we're looking forward to trying it while we're in OC this summer. Can anyone tell me what it's like...price...dress...etc...just to get a feel. Would really appreciate it!!!!!

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse opened in the Glen Riddle golf course community in May 2006. Glen Riddle is located across from the Wal-mart/Home Depot complex outside OC on Rt. 50. It's about 5 miles from down town OC. The actual restaurant is located in the golf clubhouse which is a converted stable from the days when the area was a race horse farm owned by the Riddle family of War Admiral/Man-O-War/Sea Biscuit fame. So, the restaurant is steeped with historical decor and ambiance from those times.

Their steaks are the best steaks I've ever tasted. I have yet to find a comparison. Just like the advertisements the meat stays warm until the last bite because they bring your plate out sizzling hot and this heat keeps your food warm until the end.

The only draw back is the cost. Their smallest steak is called the "petite filet" which is 8 oz. and will cost you $29.95. And that is just for the steak...no sides...no salad...nothing extra except for bread. The next size up is the regular 12 oz. filet and cost $32.95. Sides and salads range from $5 to $10 each, however the side portions are huge and servers encourage you to get just one side per person and share it among 2 or 3 others at your table. The baked potatoes are huge!

In a nutshell, don't expect to pay anything less than $50 to $60 a person after drinks, appetizers, salad, steak, sides, and desserts are factored in.

Dress is somewhat casual. At the least, a nice pair of jeans and shoes along with a polo shirt will do. The majority of people I've seen there dress in a more "business casual" kind of style.

I've been to the Ruth's Chris at Glen Riddle about 3 times now and wish I could go more often. The food is really good, but very expensive!

We figured it would be expensive...but to charge you for sides? That's a little odd...we can't wait to try it, though!!! An 8oz steak is all I can eat, anyway! Thank you for the review!!! That's why I love this forum!!!!!

This place sounds like a steak house that I went to in Chicago last year. It was not a chain like Ruth's Chris, it was called Gibson's Steakhouse and it is local to the Chicago area, I believe there is one in the city, but the one I went to was at the O'Hare airport Doubletree Hotel. The steaks were of the highest quality beef and the cheapest steak on the menu was around $40.00 and up, and this was only for your steak (no sides included). I think most of the sides were around $10 each. However, they told you to order sides to share, their baked potatoes could feed 3-4 people, for example. It was without a doubt the best steak dinner I ever had and probably will ever have. Luckily though, it was a business trip so no money out of my pocket, but even if I had to pay for it, I think I would have considered it money well spent. I may have try Ruth's Chris sometime while I'm in OC, but I'll have to budget it a few months in advance to foot that bill!

Oh yeah, one other thing I forgot to mention. DEFINITELY make a reservation especially if you plan to go during dinner time (5pm to 9pm range). You can actually do it on-line at the Ruth's Chris website.

yes ruth's chris is an awesome restaurant...but don't forget, you get what you pay for! this is top quality EVERYTHING...i mean they have the best salad ive ever had there. but since you're in oc...why would you want to eat at a chain restaurant anyway? when in oc, you gotta eat at the places with character!

I would have to say this Ruth's Chris has plenty of unique character. The original stable where the restaurant now resides was built in the 1920s and was home to the legendary race horses Man O' War (grandfather of Sea Biscuit) and War Admiral. Much of the original woodwork was restored and is used in the decor of the restaurant. The stall doors are used as table tops in the bar and grill and you can also find some original woodwork throughout the clubhouse and restaurant.

So, if you are ready for one of the best steaks you'll ever taste, spend some money, and learn a little bit about Worcester County history, then I'd say definitely head over to this "chain" restaurant. ;)

I went to a R.C. in VA. about 10 years ago and didn't care for it. I don't like ala carte pricing on an expensive steak. If I drop major -coin for a steak, the least they can do is not charge me $6 for 10 cents worth of broccoli. Not impressed.

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is very typical of good upscale steakhouses.
Most if not all are ala carte pricing. Sides are big and are meant to be shared.
If your dropping major coin on a steak in a steak hose then your paying ala carte for sides.

I have dined at the locations in DC several times and always been happy.
If your ever in DC and want to try something as good or better try the Prime Rib or the Palm.
