We are planning a last minute trip to OC and found the Beachmark Motel had a room available. From what I've been reading on this forum, it sounds like a decent place, but can anyone tell me how far from the Beach and/or the Boardwalk it is? Also we are bringing my two young adult nieces with us. Is there much for them to do in the area? Thanks in advance for any replies.

This hotel is located oceanside on 73rd street and the coastal highway, the main road running north and south through OC.

The beach should be located one block from the hotel within easy walking distance.

The Boardwalk starts around 27th street on the oceanside of the coastal highway. This is the most northern end of the Boardwalk which runs some 30+ blocks south to the inlet area which has most of the attractions you would more then likely like to see.

From the hotel you could either drive downtown to the Boardwalk area or cross the coastal highway and jump on the bus which runs all day and head south to the boardwalk area.

As for your nieces they could use the hotel pool, within walking distance you have many places to grab a bite to eat. BJ's is located on 75th and bayside (across the coastal highway) good place for lunch or dinner and serves a full menu late into the evening.

Depending on their age they might be able to travel by bus or car to the Boardwalk area for a visit or travel down with you.

Any other questions please ask.

When are you planning to go down???????????

Weekend or weekday?????????

Have you been to OC before???????????????

Hope this helps.

We've never been to Ocean City before and are really looking forward to the trip. We were able to get a room at the Beachmark the week of 7/24. Hope the weather is nice. Thanks for the information!

You are also close to the Dough Roller restaraunt. It's a good place for pizza and breakfast. And Rita's Ice Cream is attached. There is also Big Peckers withing walking distance. Don't be afraid of the name. It's very family friendly and you can sit outside on tables that swing, and on hot days, they spray a very gentle mist (doesn't bother your food) to cool you off. And the Bonfire Buffet is right up the street. It's 26.00 a person for the adult buffet. I don't know what they charge for kids. BJ's on the Water is also real close. Excellent food, and they are right on the bay. Your nieces can feed the geese and ducks on their outside deck. The bus that goes up and down all day has a ride all day price so you could go to the boards in the morning, come back and relax or swim, and go back in the evening without paying more than once. Most of the parking close to the boards is metered unless you park a few blocks off the beach towards the bay. And most of the activity is from 5th st. down. In other words, if you park between 27th and lets say 10th st, you'll have a heck of a long walk to the rides and games, so if your nieces are young, you might do better to park or get off the bus around 5th St. Avoid Paul Revere's restaraunt at all costs. I know it's cheap, but the food and the atmosphere is awful! There is also a tram that runs up and down, but there is a charge to ride each way. There's tons of stuff to do on the boards, games, rides, and lots of food and touristy shops. The Lifesaving museum is also on the boards and depending on their ages, the girls might get a kick out of seeing the old bathing suits and displays inside. Most of the hotels have OC info inside their lobbys, but you might want to drive to 41st st. to the Convention Center. You can find tons of info and coupons there to at least see some of what there is to do and eat in OC. You'll have a great time. We always stay on 77th st. and love that part of OC because it's a little quieter and the beach isn't so crowded. Have fun, and let us all know how you enjoyed your stay.
