Anyone have any suggestion where to stay on the boardwalk below 10th street? This is my 4th year returning and love OC. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Suites, Paradise Plaza Hotel and Princess Royale Oceanside. Love to stay at beginning of boardwalk. Considering Plim Plaza but by this forum have not heard great things. What about the newer Breakers Hotel?

I would stay away from Plim Plaza...

This would be a much better choice http://www.comfortinnboardwalk.com/

I second Park Place we have stayed there many times. Although we also liked the Hotel Monte Carlo when we were there last March. The Tidelands is not to bad either.

Another vote for Comfort Inn Boardwalk. We stay there every year and have never had a bad experience. And you get free coffee 24/7, which is very important. ;)

Free Coffee 24/7? My kind of place!
Here is an old photo...

Good location--pink building between 4th and 5th, right next to the Kite Loft.

yes the tidelands was ok except for our door handle on the sliding door was busted and the tub leaked..and the monte carlo..that was horrible..this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed at in all the years i have been visiting ocean city. we check in thursday and when we get to our room it isnt what we payed for. it is very small and it has one bed for 3 people staying in that room. the headboard is half falling off the bed. there was water leaking through the tile floor from an unknown place. there are no dishes in the cupboards. there were 2 towels for 3 people in the room. so we call the front desk and ask to be upgraded to a room with 2 beds. they say they will talk to the manager and call us right back. we wait in the room for an hour doing nothing and dont get a call. we call the front desk again and they say oh sorry we thought you were going to call us but there are no other rooms available. so then i end up sleeping on the floor that night. so the next day the sign out front of the hotel says vacantcy when we were promised the first room available. so we go to the front desk and ask whats up with that. on the second day of our vacation in the middle of the day we get moved to another room one floor down. cost 50 more bucks per night per person, plus the difference from the room prices. the room was bigger and had 2 beds but we go to bed that night and find there is blood on the sheets..dried blood..how disgusting..we take the sheets off and the next day the housekeeping people decide to put the same sheets on the other double bed in the room. so we call the front desk at 11pm and get new sheets. the next day the maid doesnt give us new soap or shampoo so we make due with one bottle for 3 people. right outside of our room, turns out there is construction going on at 7am every morning. the ONE elevator is slow. miswell take the steps. the pool and hot tub are dirty. the parking is horrible. they have their lots spread out and its hard to find a good place. all in all i would never stay at this place if it was the last hotel on earth!

....and those were even more good reasons to stay in a condo. Some people complain about having to bring your own linens, but at least you know they are clean and you will have enough towels. You can view most condos online before you book them, so you know that there are enough beds to accommodate everyone, and it's much cheaper than the hotels in town. ;)

Yup, and they stock flavored creamers, too! You also get a free "continental" breakfast - cereal, muffins, bagels (w/ cream cheese). It's not much, but hey, it's free!

The rooms are always clean and come with a small kitchenette. Perfect for a family w/ kids. Everything is within walking distance. If you get an oceanfront room, after the kids are in bed, you can kick back on the balcony, pound down some cold ones, and watch the nightlife boardwalk scene. Always a real treat for us.

Oh, and the staff is great, too. Never had a problem with anyone. And no, I don't work for the place, or know anyone affiliated with them personally. ;)

As with everything else oceanfront, on the boardwalk, it is quite expensive, however. We usually go non-peak season, when the rates are slightly lower. Still, it does take a chunk out of your wallet.
