Nice report John. Ocean City is the one who decides when the Corvettes can have their weekend and they really need to rethink the timing for this event. We have gone many times before when it was earlier in the year, but this is just too late to have this. Used to be the last weekend in Sept., but I guess to keep OC "open" later in the season, the powers that be decided to give the Corvette drivers the bone and stick them in the middle of October. We had some heavy SNOW here in Pennsylvania over the weekend, which kept almost everyone I knew who had planned to go, home. Or if they went, it wasn't with the Vette. It's a real shame, because this event is for charity. Guess they won't be giving as much to Spina Bifida this year.
Quick question (especially to those of you who go down in the off season frequently)..Do you find that the service and food during the off season is better, the same or worse? I have heard people say different things and I'm just interested in hearing what you guys think.
My experience is that the service is close to the same, maybe a little bit better.
My perception of minor improvements is probably more related to the fact that places are less crowded and noisy in the off season. In addition, many of the places that stay open year round (even weekends only) seem to have more permanant staff who have been doing the job for years as opposed to seasonal workers who are just there for a summer or two. Service in these places is generally good year round, but may be a little bit better in the off season since the wait staff is not quite as busy. In my experience, the best staff anywhere are those who have been doing someting for years and who plan to continue to do the job for years. It is also nice to know in the off season that one can get into our favorites without having to wait for a table.

Well, we didn't venture around as much as we wanted due to the really lousy weather. Denny's on 118th street the first night because at 1am, there wasn't much else to choose from. We had great service and a cheeseburger.
Saturday AM Breakfast at the Dough Roller on 3rd Street. Shared an Omlet and Pancakes. Very good actually. Saturday night was our dinner at Embers. We both really enjoyed it, very good server and the crab legs were great.
Sunday Breakfast was Thrashers Fries. Had to eat them huddled in the alley leading up to the pier or they would have blown out of the cup. Nothing like hot fries in a dark corridor with tons of dirty pigeons watching. Late lunch was Dough Roller pizza, OK, not great this time by any means.
There wasn't much else open Sunday. Weather was still windy and miserable, many people couldn't get into OC due to the streets being flooded.
Felt real bad for the Corvette crowd, many just packed it in on Saturday and headed out.
