I went to the beach for the weekend before Christmas and it looked like they were doing a lot of work to the Life Saving Station Museum at the Inlet. It looked like they were putting up new siding and renovating the outdoor displays.

Also, the top of the Lookout Tower was gone. Does anybody know the story behind that? I'm hoping they're just taking it down for maintenance.

Hi Kds53098,
According the Museum's website:

The Museum will be CLOSED for rennovations until…………. April 2009

I think I read a few months ago that the tower is going to be renovated, including stripping off old paint and repairing corrosion. It should be back up this summer. I believe the tower has been there since the early 1930s, and was built soon after the inlet was cut.

Thank you. I did visit the OC Museum site to see that they are renovating.
