Well we just got back from OC yesterday afternoon and it is cold here in central PA(Suppose to only be around 70 today!!) As soon as I got out of the car at home I said, ok it's too cold time to go back.
Anyway, we had very nice and hot weather this year, just the way I like it.
We stayed at the Americana since as everyone knows they are getting rid of our favorite Santa Maria. The Americana was ok, I really liked the location, but here are the things I did not like. The balconies are not open like the Santa Maria, which I think we will never find again. (That was my favorite part of SM, mainly when you have 3 families going and we sit and talk to each other) At night we just kinda crowded onto one balcony so we could talk it up late into the night. Also the rooms were not as clean as I would of liked. (I am not a clean freak, but sometimes I do get a little cringey) The curtain on the sliding door was ripped, the furniture was pretty much beaten up, burn marks all over, handles missing and dirt in the drawers!!! This is the first time I would not put my clothes into the dresser. The sink in the bathroom looks as if was rotting away on the bottom too. These are basically superfiscial things I guess. The price that they charge at the time we went was pretty cheap so I said well you get what you pay for. But I notice that the day after we left the prices doubled!!! I am not sure I would want to pay over $200.00 a night for the same room.
Enough going on about the rooms, all in all we had a great OC vacation as usual!! The kids love the arcade and we were right next to it, so of course money was spent daily in that, we did our walking the boards every night going to Kelly"s front porch for ice cream (tradition), we ate at Brass Balls, Shanianigans, Hammerheads (directlly under Americana) then travel to Olive Tree and Outback too, also had stops at Alaska stand and Milano's on the boards. We go to Jolly Roger splash mountain which is always a blast, ( good tip is go after 4:00 pm and the price is only $19.99 instead of 31.99)
We also go out to Baja Amusements and ride the go carts. But my ultimate favorite thing to do is get up early watch the sun rise with a cup of coffee, then get to the beach with a good book and bask in the sun!! Then when everyone else decides to get up and about we do some boogie boarding, and jumping in the waves. After some time of that nothing is better than taking a little snooze on the beach!!! Well I am sad as usual to see the time come to an end, but I guess I will have to wait till next year!!! Unless I can convince a few family memebers to go for a long weekend around labor day!!!
