You may have difficulty finding a hotel that offers these services. I believe your two best bets are the following:

Carousel Hotel
carouselhotel.com
1-800-641-0011

Castle in the Sand Hotel
castleinthesand.com
1-800-552-SAND

These two OC hotels market themselves as very family-oriented hotels. I know the the Castle has activities for children, but I'm not sure about babysitting. You may want to contact the hotel directly to see if they offer these services.

I searched the OC Chamber of Commerce for child care services and these are the 2 results I got:

C & Associates
1-800-915-3334

Dial-A-Nanny
410-641-2977

I hope this is helpful! Enjoy OC.

The Carousel now has a new "Camp Carousel" for children 4 and above; I think they offer the services Thursday-Sunday, however check the website or call for exact ages/times.

I would never let my children(adults now) stay with anyone that I did now know, esp. in this day and age. We taught our 3 kids to be polite in restaurants. I brought books, crayons, etc... and they were not allowed to leave the table except to use the rest room. They came with us when we decided to eat out and we always had adults coming up to us, saying how quiet and polite our kids were.
I wonder if they were polite at the secret keg parties in high school they thought we didn't know about??????

This may be none of my business; however leaving your precious children with strangers is just downright scary!!! Anyone can say that they have a responsible and qualified childcare staff. How do you know who they really are??? I will give you an idea that my siblings have used in the past with their own families. They took me along to watch their children while they went out to those adult only places! It didn't cost them any more than what they would've paid for a sitter and it gave me some great memories of my nieces when they were little. Find someone that you know you can trust to take along with you willing to keep an eye on your children. If you don't know of anyone, then find some family friendly locations where the kids can go with you. I would much rather put up with bringing my children along then to find out later that something bad happend and I could have avoided it.

I strongly agree with bringing a babysitter with you that you know and trust. My children are adults now, 26 and 23, but way back in the day we always brought a sitter from home. The sitter was thrilled to have a week at OC, and we had peace of mind.

We took the sitter everywhere we went with the kids - beach, dinner, movies, amusement parks, mini-golf, and paid for everything. We also made sure that the sitter had time off every day, such as when we walked the boardwalk we watched the kids and let the sitter shop, or we took the kids into the water every now and again to let the sitter soak up the sun, read, swim or whatever. When we wanted an "adults only" evening, we bought in pizza and rented a movie and the sitter stayed there with the kids.

You also might want to make sure to get a Power of Attorney to make medical decisions for your sitter. Thankfully, we never had to use it, but got one every year - just in case. You just need one of the parents to handwrite a note saying that you have permission to make medical decisions if they can not be reached, blah, blah, blah. Telephone numbers for the parent(s) as well as medical insurance numbers should also be on the paper along with any allergies the sitter may have.

You are so right OC4Life!!
My son (now 22) went to OC with a large family of people, not our relatives, about 6 to 8 years ago. I did give the mom a hand written note to make a decision in case of a medical emergency.
The first afternoon he was there, he was stung by a Portuguese Man Of War, and passed out on the beach due to the pain. This does not happen very much in OC, but the water was unusually warm at this particular time of year , I think late July.
We live in CT and I got the call and was ready to make the 365 mile trip asap. Thanks to that note, he had immediate medical care. I talked to all necessary people, via phone, and he was fine, released about four hours from said incident.
He still says that was the MOST painful thing he has ever felt in his life. To all you parents out there, make sure you write a note for the primary adult to have the power to make medical decisions in your absence. My son was in so much pain that I am so thankful that that mom had the sense to bring the note with her in the ambulance!!
