In the spirit of posting new threads, how many of you have tried the Fractured Prune's doughnuts? What was your favorite? Mine is the OC Sand. Before we go to OC, I go to the FP website and write down what kind of doughnuts I want to try so that I won't be standing there like an idiot trying to decide. I know the OC Sand is a simple doughnut, but it is the most wonderful happy taste my mouth gets in the morning. Best doughnuts anywhere!

Sorry but the FP doesn't do it for me at all. I don't see the attraction for little donuts that must be made with some very cheap ingredients.

I tried them twice, had 2 each time, both times it stayed with me all day.... and into the night......
I won't be back.....

I always have a blueberry and chocolate/chocolate sprinkle for my two. I occasionally get a peanut butter type, but I like the classics better. We've been going there since it was Josh's way back when.

Been eating these donuts from way back when the Prune was Josh's on 46th Street (where the Sunsations now sits). Josh's became the Fractured Prune in the late 1970s and moved out of the small red grocery store in the early 1990s. They moved around a bit with stores off 589 and a few other places before settling in at the two store in OC today. They started franchising a few years ago and I've been to the one is West OC and in Solomon's Island. I hope to try the one in Fairfax, VA soon, and I've heard that there is also one in Herndon, VA.

The Prune is a must stop place for us now

I usually get a Chocolate Coconut and a Chocolate Nut.

The "sand" donut (vanilla glaze with cinnamon) is always popular with our crew.

Greasy and just plain nasty. I'm not a fan of doughnuts in general, but their's are the worst. It tastes like they never change the oil.

What's your opinion on Thrasher's French Fries? I hope it's the same!

I enjoy the OC Sand some of the others get a little complicated lol. I used to manage the FP in Parkville,MD more than a year ago, good times. Seems alot of folks have 1/2 &1/2 opinions about the place. Lets just say its not for the picky/healthy eater. But a good eat non the less and a friendly group of people to work for!

How is business doing at the Parkville location? Its not in a location that stands out much, but hopefully word has spread about their existence. Its a good thing they aren't located a few blocks south where there is currently a carry-out, that building is cursed! Since I was a kid, no business has ever lasted long there.

My co-worker lives in Columbia and says the FP there does very well.

Heres hoping the Prune has a bright future in Parkville:)

They are doing just fine. I stop in there occasionally to see how everyone is doing. I'm glad that he didn't purchase that building down the street, it has such a big parking lot and would cater to the masses that flood the Parkville location on the weekends but it is very likely that place is CURSED! I think there was a Crab Shack and an Ice Cream Parlor that was there in the late 90's - early 00's that did good for awhile but just like everything else it didn't last long. Unfortunately like you said their current location doesn't stick out like a soar thumb but thanks to the word of the people in the community it has lasted there about 2 years and I'm sure it has a long future ahead of it.
