FAVORITE FROZEN BOARDWALK TREAT

I know this is somewhat early, but with 80 degree temps expected for the weekend, I figured I'd pose the following question - What is everybody's favorite frozen Boardwalk treat?

Personally, growing up, Dumser's was always my favorite, and I still make sure to get at least one milkshake each summer.

However, in 1999, a new frozen treat showed up on the Boardwalk - TLC's Polish Water Ice. As the summers went by, I gradually found myself going to Polish Water Ice near Dorchester St before often than my beloved Dumser's, especially once they added the soft serve / Polish Water Ice mix. Two or three years ago, Polish Water Ice added their own spin on the shake, and they became my favorite frozen Boardwalk treat.

I know Dumser's has more tradition, but if I had to choose just one, it would be Polish Water Ice.

Thoughts??? Comments???

Our family usually ends up at the Polish Water Stand several times during our Vacation. My wife, however, prefers Kohrs. Dumsers is OK, but I think it's kind of over rated. We do enjoy the Dumsers further down Coastal Highway with the dine in location, we end up there at least once during the off season, but for the money, give me the Polish Water Ice.

It's not really a "frozen" treat, but my family and I used to love getting chocolate covered strawberries from Candy Kitchen on the boardwalk. They used to skew 5 of them on a stick and kept them refridgerated. The only problem, as soon as you got outside, the chocolate would melt immediately. They used to use a sheet of wax paper to help with the dripping, but you would inevitably end up in the 90 degree heat with chocolate all over your hands. Still, it was totally worth it.

We usually hang out on the north end of the city, so this isn't technically a "boardwalk" treat. And I will admit that they don't look like much when you get them from the counter, but there is nothing better than a Billy's Sundae (around 142nd?). The ice cream is so soft that it immediately begins to melt, but it is tasty. My favorite is the Pineapple Sundae, but the Strawberry and Hot Fudge are good too. I do not particularly like the Cold Stone Creamy up around 132nd Street. I found their prices to be rather high for ice cream. It is popular--there was a line out the door, but I would much rather hit Billy's where your feet stick to the floor and Sundae's cost $2.25.

Dumser's has my vote.

Side note on chocolate covered strawberries: Best is Wockenfuss, Dolle's are good, and Candy Kitchen are the worst.

Is is Dumser's who sells the orange and vanilla swirl? I LOVE THAT STUFF! It is so refreshing, and if you get a milkshake made with it............even better!

I like Dumpster's too, at least the one on the North end ~125th street. The coconut and chocolate chip milkshake is about THE BEST thing Ocean City has to offer IMO.

It's that good.

Maybe they have this shake on the boardwalk too, I like the soda bar counter up North. The fact it's year round plus I live up North makes it convienent. The beautiful year round Eastern Europeans women that work there is an added bonus.

Yes, Dumser's has the orange/vanilla swirl. Quite good.

I also tried the Marble Slab Creamery on 9th Street last summer. The ice cream was quite good. It's the same concept as Cold Stone. They've only been there a few seasons. However, they were a little pricey.

Wokenfuss huh. I had their strawberries a number of times as well. Didn't like them as much as Candy Kitchen. Surprisingly, I didn't know about Dolle's though, and I have been getting food their for years. I'll have to try it.

I'd say it's a tie between Polish Water Ice, & Kelly's (located underneath Phillips by the Sea)ice cream, for me.
