THE DUNES MOTEL - ON THE BOARDWALK

Just returned from a week at The Dunes Motel, and must say I have fallen in love with this area. Never felt anything other than safe while walking around, alone, with my 4 yr old. The Dunes Motel is at the very end of the Boardwalk, right beside the Trolley station. Perfect location. We would ride the trolley to the southern end and talk all day walking back and playing on the way.
The Dunes Motel is an older place, but very clean. It was only $49 a day with a full kitchen...can't beat that. The pool area was nice with a great kiddie pool. Would recommend this plce to anyone looking for a really good budget place to stay. Not a Marriott, but as good as some Best Westerns I have slept in! The staff is very pleasant, and eager to make your stay a good one. Each room has a pleasant sitting area on the front balcony. I will stay here again.

I also enjoy the Dunes Motel. We had a poolside room and it was quite pleasant. It wasn't too small, and it was attractive and nice. Very, very clean. Our bathroom, which is the primary element I judge a room on was extremely clean. It was white and just sparkled and smelled clean. Also, the rates are very reasonable. Would certainly return to the Dunes again. It is owned by the same family that owns the Dunes Manor Hotel, which I have also stayed in and both properties are outstanding.

I too have stayed at this place and enjoyed it,except for 1 thing. My family and I have stayed here for 3 years in a row. Last year we decided to extend our stay for an extra day. I checked with the front desk prior to check out time and was assured that we would be able to stay over. When I arrived at the front desk to pay, the front desk agent was very rude!!! She attempted to charge me over $50 more than the rate we payed for our other nights and when I asked why there was a large change in rates, she said that "it was her choice to rent me the room and she could choose the rate also" I informed her that if that was the treatment the management bestows upon guests then I would be finding another place to stay. Instead of offering to lower the rate. She informed that since it was 10 minutes after check out time, and we had decided to leave, she would be sending housekeeping up to the room to ESCORT us out. I could not believe how we were treated and for that reason,we will never return. I hope hotel management reads this, because they lost a loyal customer with a big mouth!!!! I've said my piece, thanks for listening!

Hello!

KS--What are you talking about? I don't think anyone can understand your post. Please explain.

In response to KS and the questionable $49 a night, this is not for the summer months. I have stayed there in the off-season for that price, so apparently the person who stated this rate stayed there in shoulder months. Anyone who expects a nice place like the Dunes for $49 a night in the summer apparently has never been to Ocean City. You get what you pay for!

I know my post is REALLY late, but we just booked a room at the Dunes Hotel for $199 a night Ocean Front, Poolview rooms for $99. Pretty decent rates for the summer months I think. Plus they let us book for only 1 night when most other hotels have a three night minumum.

I'm glad to see all the good reviews, I've stayed at the Dunes Manor years ago and loved it, but have never stayed at the Dunes Motel.

Christy: When did you make your reservation, and for what time period? I made my reservations about 2 weeks ago, and I'm going to be staying at the Dunes Manor Hotel the week of July 21. The rate I was given, was $249/night oceanfront and $259/night oceanfront-weekend.

I was told (by the lady with which I made my reservations) that that rate ($249) was the same for both the Dunes Manor Hotel and the Dunes Motel, for the oceanfront rooms.

Did you get some other sort of discount or something? Please let me know. Thanks!

I also booked a room for the week of August 4th for $249.00/night. For a minute there when I saw $199.00/night I thought I was being ripped off. I'm glad to see that someone else's rate is the same as mine.

The prices change as of July 2 in most hotels in Ocean City because of the activities that are goin on starting with the fourth of July and going into part of August. We were thinking about staying at the Dunes next weeked when we go and the room would have been about 234 and up the $249 a night price was for a king. However friends stayed there in June for $199.00 a night but had a standard room.

I just called the hotel itself. We stayed the one night (July 2nd). It was a weeknight, so the price was somewhat less than what it would be for the weekend.

I do have to say I was quite happy with the room. I didn't realize it was going to have a kitchen. We definitely plan on going back again and staying for a week at the Dunes Motel. Roomy enough so we weren't stepping all over each other, and VERY clean.

We did dinner at Embers (which had mixed reviews on here). I really enjoyed it. The seafood was good (although I didn't try any of the batter fried stuff, I went straight for the crab, oysters, and shrimp). Then did lunch the next day at "Big Peckers". Great burgers and the kids loved the glider tables.
