I stayed at the Royalton for senior week 15 years ago. It was gross then, and not much has been done to it since then. I can only imagine what it is like now. I have actually been waiting for 15 years to read a newspaper artilce about a balcony falling right off the front of the place. They are seriously hanging on by a nail. The article is surely forthcoming.
You have made a very good point. They are just sitting back taking money and not doing any major renovating so to speak. We were fortunate enough to have gotten a room with a "renovated" bathroom....thank goodness! I can't, nor do I wish to know what it had been like before! Pipes hanging out of the wall, and no outlets in the bathroom that was a shock. The major shock was no room service. I still shake my head when I think about it.

Where shall I start, and is there a limit to how many words I can type. LOL First off, dirty bed sheets, sand in corner and on corner of dresser, about an inch thick....sweepers don't pick up sand? No room service. We do not require the "ritz", but sure wouldve been nice to have the trash taken out. Only trash can in the room was smaller than most have in their bathrooms, so needless to say ours overflowed after 3 days. When we told them about the dirty sheets, we were told someone would be up to take care of it. One and half hours later, no one had shown up yet, fortunately for us we located a linen closet and swiped sheets and pillow cases so we could change our bed. Gee, I wonder if that is why the closet is left open?!?! We were fortunate to get a room w/the renovated bathroom. Must've been real bad, because renovated was bad. The faucet in tub/shower was hanging out of the wall, no outlet in the bathroom, and terrible water pressure. It took around 5 minutes for the water to get hot enough to shower. I could go out on the balcony and smoke a cigarette waiting for the water to get hot. I won't even get into the balcony....lol Just amazing don't you think? We shouldve requested a refund and went elsewhere, shame on us.

Bob I'm shocked!!! I can't believe you sat on this kind of information all this time!
Do you realize that info like this could have really helped out those rednecks with the kids that weren't tall enough to ride the rides at Trimpers?!?!? The mayor might have made them give em lifetime wrist bands or something...
Maybe it's just me, but a one minute tour (no more time is necessary) of the website http://www.royaltonoc.com/ would deter (just about) anyone from staying there.
If the wording isn't clear enough to deter you (e.g. "Please read before book", "...one of Ocean City's oldest hotels and still holds the look and feel of one of the boardwak's original properties"), the photo gallery http://www.royaltonoc.com/PhotoGallery/Gallery/index.html should clarify any misconceptions.

Resently stayed at the Royalton Hotel on 11th and boardwalk. I've been coming to OC for 25 years, this was the worse place I have ever stayed at!
