Ok, here it is a couple of months earlier than I would have liked to presented it but none the less we had a great vacation over the memorial day weekend, the weather was great as was most of the food, here is a brief run through of the places we ate....

Friday - Antipasti. This place was by far our favorite last year, and it was even better this year! everything was perfect, I could easily go on and on about how great the food is here, but unless you go there I still don't think I could do it a justice... Only thing with this place is that it is NOT cheap! the 6 of us (wife and I + our 4 kids) ate there and the bill came to $254.00 + tip.

Sat - Harborside bar & grill, (in west ocean city). Long wait for a table, but then again it was a Sat. nite. Other than that the food was excellent! I had the Wahoo, my wife had the crab cakes. I loved mine & loved hers even more! I was really surprized with this place, I guess I was thinking it was a place to get an Orange Chrush, and maybe something to snack on, but I would say the crabcake was as good if not better than the Captains Galley.

Sun. - Fausto's Brick Oven Bistro. New for this year, this place is located inside the Howard Johnson's on the boardwalk. Fausto has taken pizza up a notch to gormet level. With out a doubt this is some of the pizza I've ever had, the pies are all cooked in a brick oven so they are nice and crisp! Decorated inside like Antipasti, while serving up great pizza at a fair price, this place was a hit with us. I believe the 6 of us ate there for less than $70.
(we had 3 pizza's, & 2 appetizers)

Mon. - Bonfire. I know I gave this place a bad review, and in my heart I really didn't want to go back, but everyone wanted buffet, and Horizons isn't open during the week, so we gave it one more shot... Much MUCH better this time, we must have just hit it on a bad night last year.....

For lunch, we ate at the Holiday Inn suites (were we stayed) every day, it was fairly good, and the price was right, and we got served at the poolside, so I guess we couldn't really beat it....

Hey Dean:

Thanks for taking the time to pass along your reviews.

Never been to the Harborside but hit the Captain's Galley from what i heard here and it was worth the ride so i might have to make a trip now to the Harborside.

Antipasti sure does hit the wallet hard. Your party was $42 per person well for a real good meal worth it and from what you said it was that good.

How were the crowds over the holiday? From what I saw on the web cams looked packed down there.

Glad to hear you could fit in a trip this year and best of luck to your wife and her new job. ( I think I remember that is why you were going early this year if not my mind must be slipping)

Enjoy the rest of your Summer and thanks for the reviews again.

I could use a crab cake right about now!!!!!!!!

I would say it was one of the busiest Memorial Day's in Ocean City. The great weather helped a lot. My favorite sub shop DeVito's took their phone off the hook because they couldn't keep up with the orders on Sunday.:( Couldn't even move in Smitty's on Saturday night and I talked with the owner of Cefaloni's and she said it was the busiest Memorial Day they have ever had.

Thanks for posting, Dean. Nice to hear reviews like yours. I have to agree with your take on Antipasti - a bit pricey, but well worth it for the food and service.

And I am quite pleased to hear about the Brick Oven Pizza. We will most definitely get there soon to try it out.

NY-MD, do take the time to hit the Harborside. Unless you get there when they are slammed you should enjoy it. It really is a lot more than the Orange Crush. But ya do hafta try one of those...

:)

Has anyone ever tried Tutti Gustie's? I think that's the name. We were walking around one night and went past the place. It looked sooooo romantic, and our anniversary was coming up so it would have had the perfect atmosphere, but we had already eaten, so we passed it by. We did say that we'd like to try it next time, but wondered how the food was.

I heard on the local news that this past Memorial Day weekend was the best in 10 years and that there were 20,000 more people than last year.

Weather was great except for about 4 hours on Saturday afternoon when one tiny thunderstorm decided to pop up and then park itself over the Ocean Pines/Berlin/Selbyville/Ocean City areas and drop an inch+ of much needed rain.

Tutti Gustie's is nice Italian restaurant as well. The food is very good, but not quite at the same level of excellence as Antipasti and not even close to the atmosphere Fausto has going on in the new location at 31st St.

NY-MD, The Crowd really didn't hit till Sat. & Sun. We got there late nite on thursday, and on friday, and Monday those 2 days it was almost like you had the whole resort to yourself! Friday, when we were eating at Antipasti, there were only 4 other tables that were filled, ant that was 6:30 at night. Monday when we went to the Bon Fire it was the same way, you walked up to the buffet and you might have had 2 or 3 people up there at the same time... The boardwalk was also crowed on the weekend.

Antipasti IS expensive, but you also have to remember this meal was for 6 people, no childrens menu, 2 glasses of wine, 3 appetizers, and 5 deserts, so most people who go, could get away with a lot less.:)

OCthebeach.com, I think you'll really like the Brick Oven.

Sounds like you hit a good set of places!

I wore my Harborside Tshirt to work today (that's what casual Friday's are all about -- the buy in the hammock!) and was thinking about their crab dip and maybe, just maybe a few orange crushes. We love to get over to the commercial harbor side of town and there's more and more good eats popping up over in West OC. Almost two months to go until our trip ...

Who was the Mayor of Ocean City that every Memorial Day claimed, "This is the biggest crowd ever!" ;)to the eager news?? Harry Kelly! I always laughed when I heard his crowd numbers. Simple math would reveal that as long as he was Mayor, if the crowds were always bigger than previous years that would mean over a million people plus were visiting OC on just one weekend.

I think the media finally caught on or maybe they were embarrassed that they took his hype seriously and stop reporting his numbers. He was a great promoter of Ocean City. I wonder how he would have reacted to the future demise of the amusement area??
