We rented w/ Condo Realty this year and had a pretty good experience. They were the only place that had the condo we like to stay in for a reasonable price. The only complaint we had was that we didn't have cable. I called them on Sunday and they said they'd notify the owner. I guess the owner then called the cable company, but nothing was fixed while we were there. So, we got like 15 channels and 2 religious channels, which bummed us out! The lady at the rental co said it's been like that since they switched to digital. I tried to call comcast myself and always got a busy signal. I know we weren't on vacation to watch TV, but we didn't like not getting channels we watch regularly.

Glad to see you're a positive person and it didn't ruin your week, however, if Condo Realty were really the "friendliest people at the beach" they should be working to get you an "adjustment" on the condo rent.  I'd reckon $100 or 15% of the rental whichever is less is fair.  Rental agents and condo owners too often take advantage of renters and I've had my share of both good and bad experiences.  It never hurts to document your request and ask for a response from the owner through Condo Realty.  You have a right to a relaxing vacation and FULL USE of the promised amenities.  Everyone likes to veg in front of the tv after a full day at the beach!

Here's my worst horror story - Rented at Sea Terrace where we had previously rented for years.  Each night at 2AM, an alarm clock in another unit would sound and wake us up.  It was third week of September and the building was largely empty.  Called the property manager who called the owner.  They asked the security guard to walk around at night and listen but never solved the problem.  Each night, we slept in the master bedroom until awakened at 2am...moved to the living room and slept until the alarm shut off between 3 and 4AM.  We later found out that a contractor had turned off electricity on the floor above us causing the clock to lose time but it pretty much ruined the week.  We cut ties with the rental and stay elsewhere now.  The property manager had full access to enter the condos and look for the alarm but told us it was unreasonable to enter numerous condos at 2am for such a minor nuisance....their minor nuisance was our hard earned once a year vacation.

On a separate occassion, an owner in another Sea Terrace condo refunded $100 when we waited for the air conditioner to be repaired.  Some people are greedy and some care for the welfare of their customers.

Let's see.

15 channels with 2 religious stations.

Sounds like the basic OC Comcast package.

Anything more would be an upgrade.

I can think of 100 other things to keep me busy than tv.  But I understand that some people need tv to relax before bed.  That's a bummer.  I agree that Condo or the owner should have refunded you back some money.

I was called by a renter because the AC was out in the middle of August $$$ and right when I was about to tell her to go ask the rental Co. if they had anything else open and to let her out of her "contract" with me because it was the right thing to do, the power came back to the entire street. I would not want to stay in a condo that had no power but the rental Co L &F would not do anything to help her unless we let her out. I realize that I would have been out about $800+ but as an owner you must do the right thing because if they damaged my property I would have come after them for the damages. It needs to go both ways.

The owner said they had more than just the basic cable at the time.  If they only subscribed to the very basic they would've told us that.  I know there are more things to do at the beach besides watch TV, but if it rains we're not out.  And we like to eat lunch and/or dinner in the condo, so it's nice to have something to watch.  Plus, we have some shows that we watch regularly, on vacation or not.  I don't blame the condo place cuz they were nice about it and didn't snub us.  I didn't ask for a refund but when I rent again, I'll be sure to confirm there will be cable before I commit!
