What is the best place to go for drinks in town?

oops, logged in to my admin account by mistake there...

It really depends on what kind of atmosphere you are looking for. Seacrets is always popular and is probably the most fun party spot. If you're looking for somewhere more sedate where you can have a long conversation over drinks, Babe's Lounge at the Blue Ox Steakhouse would be a better bet.

For more intimate conversations and great wine and food Liquid Assets is great for drinks. If you want more fun and funky I would go to Fagers or Secrets...however I think Secrets is so over-priced its ridiculous. If you are just looking for a great beer, Shenanigan's or Duffy's Tavern would fit the bill nicely.

Yeah, really depends on what you need.

For the overpriced, crowded scene, hit Macky's or Seacrets. I actually love Seacrets drinks and appetizers, but sometimes can't handle the crowd. Macky's embodies the beach tourist trap theme with everything from expensive drinks to cheesy bartenders, self-advertising on the big screen and game show gimmicks. Though the food is decent, I just can't take the whole atmosphere they put off for some reason. Nice place, seemingly nice people, but just never want to go there for the reasons above.

Fish Tales and MR Ducks have the same crowd but generally a little older crowd and laid-back atmosphere to them. They can both get equally as crowded, though, on a nice day and early evenings after the fishing boats return.

For the pub feeling, hit Kirby's Pub, Shenanigans, Finnigans or Duffy's. I know Duffy's has Keno if you look for that. Kirby's is a classic locals hangout w/ great bartenders and food. It's the type of place you get stuck in and can't leave. It's my favorite joint in OC.

Crabcake Factory also has Keno and is smokefree. Dr. Unk's in West OC is also smokefree and very laid back, sometimes too quiet. But great food at both. Also some other nice outside bars in west OC during season, Harborside and Teaser's at Sunset Grille have a nice outside feel sometimes without the crowd of the intown outside bars. Jimi's on 9th Street has a great jukebox.

Anyone ever been to the bar, thats the actual name "The Bar" at the end of the boardwall across from the Lifesaving Museum? We've been going there for at least 10 yrs,we never miss the Bar. Nice quiet laid back place,if you've never been you need to go ,you'll love it, as long as you like it quiet and laid back!

I'm looking for a place to sit back and watch the sun go down while enjoy a nice frozen beverage. Now that I'm married I don't need the bar scene and my wife can't stand a huge crowd.

Almost every bar i have been in at OC is crazy with prices..You have to either drink a few in your room before going out....or hit happy hours...unless you just want a drink or 2. !

If you want a beautiful sunset then you have to go bayside. Some of the nicest bayside bars are BJ's on the Water, Fager's Island, Secrets, or even Fresco's if you want to get on the fancier side. Each of these places offer wonderful views of the bay. Trust me, take your wife for a fine dinner at Fresco's at a table right on the glass and you won't regret it! :)

I am looking for a place in West OC or in south OC to take friends out for drinks this Saturday night. We are going to be down staying outside of Assateaque and after the kids are in bed and the sitter paid, we want to be able to go out, drink a couple refreshing adult beverages and hang out....

THanks!

If you want to stay in the West OC area and want to be on the water, then I suggest either Sunset Grille/Teasers, Micky Fins, or Harborside. If you go to Harborside make sure you taste one of their world famous Orange Crush's...YUMMY! Becareful though, they will sneak up on you in a hurry!
